ChainWorks Progress - Pretty Pictures!

Hello all!
Well uni started again last week, but I now have much more time to work on the game. Since my last update there's not been a whole lot of work put into new features. The main development (actually pretty key :P) is the movement to the latest alpha build, and with it a brand new (infinitely better) directory structure! Even more snazzy is the removal of a bug in the engine which was preventing my detonation code from working, and so we now have fireworks which explode :o:o:o!

At the moment every explosion looks identical, and is a little particle heavy, and as usual all art is placeholder, but at least now one of the key areas of the game is implemented. I've also started work on a simple stats tracking system, which is half complete.
I managed to also compile the latest release in Visual Studio 2005, as a complete newbie to all things C++! A minor achievement and triumph after trying MVC7, MVC8, TBE and finally VS2005, each with all 3 available builds, each offering different errors, all with different "solutions" on the forums. Im thinking of writing a tutorial on TDN for absolute newbies like me to build and compile their own copy of T2D using VS2005, and keep it upto date with each release? Do you think this would be useful?
Finally!!!! I ordered myself a mac mini, primarily for developing/playtesting on an apple system, but also as a media PC :)! Im also thinking it serves as a mid-low end system to test peformance on......
Thanks for reading!!!
Rob
PS
Almost forgot, we also put up a nice, simple website with a few tidbits of information and a gallery of screenshots found here!!!. Also we set up a forum, which at the moment is a diary of development, so if there is any (maybe just one????? ;)) chainWorks followers they can check out the latest over there :P!

And yes, a TDN article on compiling the latest T2D releases would be useful. The info normally gets spread over several forum threads which can make it difficult to get all of the information you need.
Keeping it all in one place and updating it as each T2D release comes out would be dead useful to us fellow n00bs ;)

@ Rob: That TDN article would be VERY useful to me and others I'm sure. Articles for building with GCC and other compilers may also be a good idea..

Great, well Im certainly no expert at it, but im sure with a hand from a couple of more experienced developers at each release we could update it :). I'll wait for the new alpha4 release (today/tomorrow??) and write it up for that :)!
