intro

Well, it's Christmas this coming Sunday... and I still haven't bought a single present. :P I have 5 days left though. I ussually can't buy present before the week before Christmas or I spoil them by telling what I bought. I just can't keep a secret about a present. I get too excited about giving it.

I hate getting presents though. Not so much now that I spend Christmas with my wife and brother instead of my entire family. I hate having that moment when you open the present and see it for the first time and it sucks and it's ALL over your face.

I can't lie very well cause my eyes show it too much. I can prank people and tell jokes cause I know it's meaningless, but I can't lie to save my ass otherwise. It really sucks at Christmas time. Lucky... my wife just buys whatever I want, which is ussually games that she steals from me as soon as she sees me start playing them. I still haven't played much of Morrowind, Fable, Jade Empire, KOTOR. Thank God she doesn't care for FPS or racing games or I'd never get to play with my presents.

How much do I sound like a 5 year old. LOL!! Ahhhhh... it's the Christmas spirit! Envy. :P

Have a happy holidays everyone!! Merry Christmas!! Happy Hanukkah!! Super Satan Day??!!

Don't forget to browse below to see if you spot a .plan you missed reading! There's tons of cool stuff to read!! For instance... I missed Rick Overman's plan and apparently there have been a couple of updates to the GG website. See... if I hadn't read thru these plans... I might have missed that little tiny detail. :P Seriously though, great stuff, wish I wasn't so busy celebrating Super Satan day to write highlights this week.

.plans

the 11TH

Ryan Wenke - Project "Survival" - Update

Akio - Updated maya2dtsExporters & maya2difExporters

Markus Nuebel - I am currently merging RealmWars2, with the latest Torque 1.4 codebase.

Andy Schatz - Critical Acclaim!... oh, and the poorhouse

Josh Ritter - MoM is AWESOME!!!

L Foster - IGF 2006: Congratulations to Tube Twist and Venture Tycoon : Africe; My thoughts on what exactly is wrong with the IGF and how it needs to correct itself & why IGC will always be the #1 indie game development event on this planet.

the 12TH

Keith Nemitz - IGF Finalist for the second time? Mousechief isn't resting on it laurels. Announcing new game!

James W. Hofmann - Ludum Dare 7. I did an entry for the Ludum Dare 48 hour gamedev competition :) It was fun and I was unusually productive for the duration, even when factoring my long breaks.

Matthew Overlund - Abstracting the Torque Audio Layer

Daniel Eden - My game's progressing along at a reasonable pace.

the 13TH

*Apparatus - Hm... just after I am trough with this messy Mapping Kit (being messy days...) I though I should start pushing the border and actually finish one of my game ideas. And in the process, take shots and write stuff about it. Crowned with a postmortem..

Phil Carlisle - For those of you that dont know, one of my current projects is a World War Two themed Dogfighting game called Air Ace.

Mark Buxton - Just got Torque and I'm starting to learn as much as I can - I am an aspiring game developer and I hope I can bring something to the table that will make people impressed, I know I have a long road ahead of me. I'm up for any 'jobs' anyone has to offer - of course that doesn't mean I wont say no to some - but if you need a new game developer on the scene I'll be on call if experience is a reward.

Joseph Helm - I just wanted to share something funny (well I think it is) with you all...

Anton Bursch - Weekly Plan Highlights on vacation until after New Years

Aaron Danks - Now that the design phase of Project Oscar is complete, it's time to start generating assets. I am now happy with the design of Project Oscar, and have begun to start generating assets for the first prototype.

Weekly Plan Highlights - Un-Official GarageGames Weekly .Plan Highlights by Anton Bursch Week of December 4th - December 10th, 2005

the 14TH

Josh Ritter - PRAIRIE GAMES, INC RELEASES GROUNDBREAKING ROLE-PLAYING GAME: MINIONS OF MIRTH

Kirby Webber - I had intended to fill this month's .plan with lots of snazzy screenshots, but thought better of it at the last minute.

Barry "Yossarian" Whitley - Planning an Online Game - A few things to consider

Magnus Blikstad - Minions of Mirth released!

Brian Kirchgessner - A great new idea that will help all those who want both weapon melee and dual weilding all in one. No editing the engine code what so ever....

Mr. Pig - Hostile Engagement Progress

Brett Fattori - I'm a blogger... Woo!

Jared Coliadis - Official announcement of both the first title from Nevo Games: Issue #37, and the T2D Adventure Core.

the 15TH

Chris Wilson - GameStudents.com Launched. Maybe we didn't explain as we should have...

BrokeAss Games - January 1st is just around the corner.

the 16TH

Darrel Cusey - Just downloaded the TGE. Plan is as follows: 1. Read all the documentation I can get my hands on and run all the example code 2. Build a simple design plan for my first project 3. Create an inventory of the TGE components I'll need for this design 4. Begin iterating through the design until "first project" is complete

Anton Bursch - Games as an artform.

Rick Overman - We will be preforming a MAJOR site update in the next hour. During that time the site will be unavailable.

Jay Barnson - Productivity Tip - The List

Camel Taylor - At the present moment Im currently learing the ins and outs of the Torque engine. For my first game idea. While I have several ideas for games I have have been toying around.

the 17TH

Jeremy Alessi - OK, so my 27th birthday came and past and the prototype wasn't quite ready. It's now about 3 days later and I think I have the whole structure of the game in tact. Making a great shooter is much more complex than one would initially assume. The basic put stuff on the screen and shoot at it is easy ... but making it a never-ending experience ... purely balanced like a 'Geometry Wars' is a time consuming endeavor.

Thomas "Man of Ice" Lund - Having too many project and too little time to actually do them all, my brain and body said stop. I'm demotivated, no energy and just sit in front of the computer without getting anything done.

Avery K. Tingle - First Game Dev Blog

Mike Stoddart - Have a safe, and merry christmas!

of interest

Here is a movie that is coming soon that I am suprised is been released in a time of daily death reports from terrorist bombings. V for Vendetta. I am not saying that it shouldn't be released. I am saying that I am suprised that Warner Bros has the courage to release of movie like this. Here's a link to the trailer if you haven't seen it already.

www.apple.com/trailers/wb/v_for_vendetta/trailer/large.html

It stars Queen Amadala and Agent Smith. Created by the Wachowski brothers, the makers of the Matrix trilogy. Interesting.

Thanks again for tuning in. So long and catch you all next week with more Un-Official GarageGames Weekly .Plan Highlights

Now I think that I'll go watch King Kong again.

heh, I have the same problem.

(by the way, I really liked the old versions of this "Weekly .Plan Highlights", what are you doing now? Just posting all the plans? Isn't it easier to just take a look at the list of recently posted plans? Bring back the amusing comments please!).

@Magnus

I am just taking a break for the holidays. I'll be back to commenting again next week. I didn't want to stop altogether though, so, I am putting up at least a list of the plans for the week. I have been so busy with stuff for the holidays that I had to pick between giving up all of my fun time for the 8-12 hours it takes a week to comment on the plans... I picked fun time.

I'm glad that the humor and comments make people want to read the plans more. I suspected that they did but I wasn't sure. Considering the difference between how many people are reading the last couple weeks without comments and the one's before with comments, I'd say I am actually doing some good for everyone. I've very happy about that. That was my purpose.

Yep, I read you were taking a break. I was more refering to the real early ones with REALLY amusing comments, but I suppose you did have your reasons for stopping with that. sigh. Oh well. =)

"Thought" is the key word in that sentence. :P ;)

Hey, Anton! Why did you edit out that long post of yours? (nice thing about the "notify" feature... it sends you the first, unedited version).
That was some funny reading. =)

I think you worry a bit too much about what others may think, I say what I feel. (mostly because I somehow believe that people will let me know if they're offended, and if they are I'd be happy to discuss it with them. I suppose that may be a wrong assumption though, but that's what _I_ would do at least).

Ah well, in either case; Don't get me wrong. I like these plans of yours and appreciate the work you put into them. Keep it up.

Oh yeah?! Well, you're fat!! :P

Seriously, I edited it out because this isn't supposed to be my blog but the weekly plan highlights. I am trying to have fun but I do have to maintain a level of professionalism at the same time. Tooting my own horn isn't very professional.

I do care about what people think. I wouldn't be able to write the weekly plan highlights if I didn't. But that doesn't mean I'm a pushover. And... if you have a problem with that... maybe we could step outside and we can... wait... hold on... my wife is calling me. I have to go now. I have to make dinner and then clean the living room and bathroom before bedtime.
