Plan for Arland "Barry" Woodham

by Arland (Barry) Woodham · 12/10/2005 (11:02 am) · 7 comments

Well I haven't posted in a while and figured I should give an update. I have been working hard on getting a jobs lately which has finally paid off. I am now the tech support person for a private school here in Jacksonville, Florida. Also I assist in teaching the computer classes. The school is planing on building a new campus which will have more computer space. When that is done I am supposed to get my own class to teach game design. So I have not fallen off the face of the earth and I still visit garage games daily, I just don't have any real time for posting anything.

Since evey .plan needs an image here is my SparcServer 1000E I got for free a couple of weeks ago that I am still trying to setup for rendering.

Ah one of my old favorites. Can you belive that was a 10,000+ dollar server in 1996.. (guessing I don't remember). I have used those to run Ansys, Cadence, Dracula, Mentor Graphics, Oracle and bunch of other stuff back in the day. Does it have 2 CPU's?

Is that Turok for Nintendo 64 lying on the table? That is one of my favourite games on the Nintendo 64!

Turok Rage Wars was one of the best games for N64.

@Randy: Actually the server cost $50,000 when it was new (owned by a bank). At least that was what I was told. It has 6 cpus 1.5 gig of ram and 18 raid hard drives at 9 gigs each. Like I said I'm tying to get it setup for 3d rendering.

@Others(lol): It is actually Turok 2 seeds of evil. It is sitting there becuase I have been working on portablizing my brother's old n64 unit. I also have Turok 1 and a few other games around. If you don't know what I mean by portablizing check this out www.benheck.com

It's a trip how easily recognizable the Turok font is. I can't even distinguish one letter but I instantly knew what game it was. That portabalizing thing is a cool idea. It just looks retarded when the Neo Geo cartridge is twice the size of the Game Boy your playing it on. Can't you just load some roms into the unit somehow? And do you know if anybody is doing something simmilar with a GBA, DS, or PSP? I'd love to play some classics on one of those units, and I believe the PSP now has some kind of hard drive. That server thing looks like junk to me but I'm sure it does something cool if your taking the time to show it off. Hope you get it working soon.
