Plan for James "Nycto" Frasca

by James "Nycto" Frasca · 10/17/2005 (12:01 pm) · 5 comments

Well, I've been at it for a few months, but I assumed I would be the one to make it go live. However, I have been out of town for the last few days and I only just now got online to find out that the Volitant Assault website has been launched. Woah. Anyone that saw Tony Richards' plan (And hey, maybe a few of you smart asses even posted a complaint about it!), you have already seen it. But heck, I made it. I think I deserve my own plan about it.

First up, the address:

www.volitantassault.com

For the astute out there: yes! This is the same CMS that Illumina uses for their website. In fact, I will be doing a major update to the Illumina site here in not too long. Roachie mentioned that he wanted to post more details about the game play, so be looking out for that. I'll get my .plan on when that goes live.

Back to RenWerX. I've been doing PHP and MySQL work for them since before Tribes:Vengeance was launched. I helped them maintain the now defunct PlanetRenegades.com. Back then we were using PHPnuke, though.

I've already run in to a few problems that need to be fixed on the new site. Might I just say that I despise Internet Explorer with a passion?

There are currently a number of other projects I am working on at the moment. Non game related. After I get through with them, though, I would like to do another website for an indie game. They're a blast to make because people get so excited about the content.

Anyway, just to brag a bit, I'll post this quote from Sgt. Flame in the hidden RenWerX forums:
Quote:Nycto, beautiful job on the dynamic portions of the website... more than I expected. Thanks for the great work... It's perfect for our needs.

And finally, because I am the kind of person that is more likely to read a plan with images, here are a couple of totally superfluous shots of the admin section:

42 people working on this project?? I have a bad feeling about this one. Anyway, what do you charge?

42 people is kind of a misleading number. Right now most of the work is being done by a small core group.

This project I did pro bono because I have been part of the team and an avid supporter of the project from the beginning. Shoot me an e-mail, though. I would be happy to discuss it with you in a more private arena.

Heh, sorry for stealing your thunder... awesome job on the site, though.

Most people won't be able to see the best parts, which is the dynamic nature of it all. The admin section rocks!

Cozz is right... like I stated elsewhere (IRC #garagegames I think?) about 50% of the people are doing 90% of the work. But, the other 50% are at least contributing a little, so they're still on the team.

Anyone needing a web guru to create a website, I highly recommend Nycto when he frees up and finishes the next couple of things on his plate. He does awesome work in a timely manner... above and beyond what any of us expected. I'm sure he won't always do pro-bono work, but whatever he charges I'm sure he's worth it.

Again, thank you very much for all of your hard work on this.

Thought it looked familiar :) Good job Nycto.
