IGC'05 - What a Blast!
If you went then you know what I mean. If you did not, then you really missed out. Warning bad poetry ahead...
I got to meet many new folks this year and many of the old guard too.
We traded names, we had brews, we played games, we learned of incredible news.
There were sessions and leshhhions, and a little rowdyness, Wooo!
The number of crew (GG) has doubled, and the gaming area was troubled, because the number of games did increase this year by a factor of more than two.
I was there, he was there, and she was there, ... but where were you?
OK, enough with the rotten poetry... For everyone who missed out on this year's IGC, I can just say, it was a real great time and you should darn well make the next one!
What a blast!
Slides and Code
I promised that I would provide the slides and code from this year's presentation, so here are the slides in PDF format, and a zip file of the sample code that Matt and I covered as well as many snippets we did not.
PDF ZIP
Please note, we were supposed to show a demo at the end of the speech, but there was no time. I was really bummed out, because we had a little demo showing Joe's blue guys (as bots) playing a game of Capture-The-Flag against eachother, with path finding, etc. all written in scripts. This was to be the proof-positive that it is easy to implement interesting game-play behavior via script.
Sorry guys!
Go to the Hall Of Worlds site to see a few snapshots from the demo that never was....
I'm about done in so, I'll check in again in a few days with more news and details.

Thanks Ben. We never did get a chance to talk did we? Well I'll be in Eugene within the next two months for sure to do a Jam session on volume 2. BTW, TDN is great. It has a good layout and the interface is very smooth. You and the crew did a great job on this new resource.
@Chris,
You are quite welcome. :)
