This .plan requires a TOP SECRET clearance!

Well, it's only been two weeks since our last Torque Boot Camp--Commercial, and we already have IGC here (it starts for GG staff today...setup, Associates start arriving, etc.) and another Torque Boot Camp immediately following....and the [sarcasm]best[/sarcasm] part is that I am in crunch mode for what has to be the coolest development project I've ever worked on!
Unfortunately, I can't talk about it...and that sucks! The fortunate part is that the clearance gets lifted in a couple of months, and we'll be doing a full writeup of the technology and what it accomplishes, so stay tuned! I can say however that I discovered that pretty much whatever your background is, sometimes all those things you thought you'd never be associated with again may come back and help you overcome difficult challenges in programming! Nebulous I know, but hey, it's late, and like I said, I can't talk about it yet...
The Indie Boot Camp is going to be a blast...we're going to squeeze in a ton of tech, do some round table discussions about participant's projects and challenges, and discuss in detail strategies and methodologies for independent developers. The 3 days are going to be a mix of:
Demos of tech, and how to use it
Lectures on theory, and how to understand it
Discussions on challenges, and how to overcome them
Walks around Eugene! (no, seriously!)
It's getting quite late, but we are still accepting last minute attendees, so if you are on the fence about attending, I can promise that everyone will get something out of it, no matter what your experience level in game development, or Torque...so call GG and have your credit card ready!
As Davey mentioned, the "travel team" is gearing up for quite a busy fall--he listed the major conferences so I won't bother re-hashing them, but at least one of the team (Davey, Jay Moore, Benjamin Bradley, Josh Williams, and myself) will be in the following cities over the next two months:
Austin, TX
Orlando, FL
East Lansing, MI
San Fransisco, CA
We will do our best to make sure everyone knows where the (informal) GG get-together will be so folks can plan ahead.

I knew I should have paid attention in algebra class :[
Why Zepp, why do you have to tease us so?

On a side note, do keep in mind that the way you guys are spinning your new products/tech/whatever, that you could well be hyping it beyond mortal expectations. Your just setting yourselves up for a downfall (or at least an underwhelming response) if you don't deliver in spades.

You know, it seems like every one of these GG .plans is something about "Oh, we're doing cool exciting stuff, but we can't tell you". I'm getting really tired of it. Skip the hype crap please and don't bother posting about future products unless you have something concrete to tell us. I never said anywhere this was about a product....I said that I personally am working on a project (as part of a support contract) that is very cool, and one of the most interesting projects I've ever worked on. I never said it would be available to Torque customers, and if it is, it won't be for 95% of the people using Torque.
GG Staff are people too, and we enjoy being members of the community. Sometimes we can't talk about exactly what we are doing or why, but it's difficult for anyone to be working on neat things and not be able to talk about them.

Also don't expect anything to be announced until IGC. That's like GG's personal E3. My bet is you will probably see announcements in the near future.

Oh, and I really wish I could be in Eugene right now. But I do plan on trying to make it next year.

Jeez, Andrew. Like King Tut said, if the "hype" irritates you, just don't read it.Oh, and I really wish I could be in Eugene right now. But I do plan on trying to make it next year.

Isn't that the truth.
Man. I hate it when I have to keep a secret about something I am excited about. I literally have to wait for the last minute to buy presents for my wife because I can't wait to give it to her. I get too excited and I want to see her reaction. I ussually say something like "oh my god, I can't wait to give this to you." to which my wife responds with a sheepish grin "then why wait?". Luckily we are both like that.
Of course... I never have any trouble at all with keeping secrets that have to do with NDAs... so... if you have access to cool stuff like the new Nintendo Revolution Controller... feel completely safe with sending me one to play with. :)

In fact like I said in my response above, this isn't even related to a product for the community at all...it's just some really interesting work that I'm helping out on as part of a commercial support contract, and like Anton mentioned, it's just an "oh my god I wish I didn't have to wait for the NDA to be released to talk about the project itself, and the cool ways it's using Torque"...so I apologize again to any that took it the wrong way.
The good news is that once it's approved, the current plan is to have a good writeup about it for the community to help stretch the minds of indie and commercial developers alike!

While I think that Andrew's post was pretty negative, I can certainly see his point, and I apologize for appearing to "tease" GG community members--that wasn't my intent.

You cant not read it. otherwise you could miss something important.

I mean no offence to anyone... But I totally agree with Andrew. Hearing that you guys are working on things all the time, but never knowing what they are is getting really old really quick. I mean, even you guys can admit it's pretty lame.Quote:
