Plan for Jeremy Alessi

So I've got this great LAN and I'm programming quite a bit of multiplayer stuff with Torque among other more custom stuff. It's great ... I have to admit I love it and it's all fun and good. However, no matter how cool each new project is and how much better it is than the one before it ... the one before it will evoke more emotion. At least that's how it is with me.

I don't want to talk about some of the other projects I'm working on until after IGC ... I've spoken of them enough already ... let's just say they are multiplayer and I love mutiplayer games. Favorite type hands down!

Now, my new games are great and they are tighter, less buggy, and more complete than ever. BUT ... I just loaded up my very first multiplayer game creation ever. I created it during the fall of 2001. The name of the game was Skyline Riders.

I created it for a DarkBASIC Multiplayer game tournament which was held to show off DB's new MP code with new games.

When I loaded the game up tonight and got it working over the LAN (no modifications necessary ;) I got butterflies in my stomach like I haven't felt ... in I don't know how long. It almost brought a tear to my eye to see this game in action again. I remember being really excited when I was making it ... because it was the first time I felt like I was really getting this game programming thing. I even made my own map editor ;) I thought that this was it ... I'd make this game and it'd do wonders for me.

Well ... I ended up getting 4th place in that multiplayer contest :( However, without getting 4th place in that contest I would never have had my epiphany. So maybe this game which still feels so magical to me will still do wonders for me yet!

Give it a whirl! Read the Readme first ... it's a strange but rewarding game ...

Yeah man I know how you feel. It is great to go back and see what you could do years ago. :)

That car game looks fun. You have a demo?

I added a download link ;) It's rough but ... it's part of my history.

dang jeremy that's one fun game! I played it for about a half hour before getting bored, and that's pretty good for a game that has no AI or even goals. too bad you can't continue dev on this game but I know the feeling, so many games, so little time. maybe you didn't get first place but I can see why the game placed AT ALL instead of being outright ignored - it's fun, has a good concept, and has that all important "hook."

Thanks man! I'm going to redo this baby again after these two current projects!
