Plan for Sam Bacsa

Things are going smooth in the Codeweaver realm.

There will be a number of changes to how the program works. I'm cleaning up a lot of code, too.

In Delta 6 and on, you'll be able to run the program and utilize the IDE even if you haven't authorized the program. You will, however, be required to authorize if you want to take advantage of object-level auto-completion and plugin features.

I'm still not sure if I'm going to IGC. I'm going to be deciding within the next few days, as there are a few factors which will resolve themselves and can lend an answer to me going or not. If I am going, expect an exclusive copy of Delta 6 to anyone who asks me. I'll have CDs and stuff on me... but this isn't even certain yet, so I'll let everyone know as I find out.

If you're looking for some phat Physix action, take a look at the next generation of physics in games, ala the Physix processor card from Aegeia.

The end of this AVI is the best, and it's definitely worth watching:

Also, seriously something that may just rival the Unreal 3 engine:

Take a look at their preview. It's an ~80MB hi-res download, but it's seriously worth it. I've not seen graphics like that in games before. Thanks to Brandon Maness for that link :)

Oh, and I'm honored to be the newest addition to the GG Associates team. Thanks to the guys at GG for noticing my work. I won't let you down! :)

Also, I had to add, I saw Lord of War yesterday and it seriously is a very well-done movie. It's definitely on my list to see again. If you're looking for a well-produced, well-acted, high-quality picture that makes you think and tells an exciting story, I HIGHLY recommend seeing Lord of War. I'm going to go so far as calling this the best movie I saw this year. Top notch!

Meh, long day. Time to go to bed. Heh.

:)

I remember seeing stuff on Offset a little bit ago. To me, the truly amazing thing about that particular project is that something that looks so amazing and presumably performs so well, was developed by a team of three guys. :p

Definitely looking forward to Delta 6. :)

"Oh, by the way, I'm the newest addition to the GG Associates team. It's cool."

For once, strip yourself of all modesty.

Congratulations!

Bleh, project offset is the kind of thing that makes me sad about the industry... Make a few nice looking models and pre-canned animations, stick together a demo and youre golden.

Used to happen all the time, remember companies like Scavenger? Into the shadows for example?

I'd rather play a good GAME, ya know.. something fun?

Project Offsets graphics look very cool, I looked at that a while ago. The bow and arrow bit really appealed to me. I hope they generate enough momentum to see their project through.

I agree with Phil here...great tech, but the gameplay has been done in about 300+ games: looks like they want to make a pretty turok with choosable avatars.

Quote:"Project Offset" (working title) is a game like no other first person shooter to date. We wanted to make an FPS set in a epic fantasy world. A game where you can choose one of many character classes. A game where clans can combat over mission based objectives and be ranked accordingly.

BORING.

I dont think it is possible to make an FPS like no others anymore, games have been made for shooting just about everything real or imagined (but now they break apart and fall down in interesting ways). I am a believer in the philosophy of 'no such thing as an original idea' in that all ideas stem from something experienced, but c'mon now we can do better. How many people on this site are now planning on creating BF2 clones?

Even experienced indies cant break out of the mold it seems... Savage seemed like it was moving a bit in the right direction, but it seems like everyone is stuck in the same rut and expecting the technology to pull us out. Maybe it will, the physics vids Sam pointed out show some excellent possibilities for gameplay, but I doubt much gameplay innovation will come out of (english speaking, western culture based) studios besides what was shown in the vids: blowing sh1t up as usual.

BTW, congrats on the Associate status. You have definitely earned it!
