Plan for Andy Schatz

Well, we finally hit beta. Not everything is in there that I had hoped, but at least now we've gone to semi-public testing, which should give us some solid feedback to incorporate. I'm exhausted, but I thought I'd put together this little gameplay video for all ya'll. It might eat up my bandwidth, so if anyone out there has a suggestion for mirroring (I've never hosted large files before), suggestions are welcome.

No pics right now, just video.

By the way, I had trouble playing this in my browser, so you may have to right click, and save as, then view it in your media player. Sorry bout that.

I've been enjoying the game. It definitely has a nice feel ... I also really enjoyed some of the sound effects. I think you could incorporate more music into the game ... nothing overpowering of course. The only thing that I found really lacking was the character interaction and animation. The flamingoes were pretty convincing in the water as they actually sank into it ... the Zebras though sit directly on top of the water which just doesn't work well. It makes it appear much more artificial then it should be especially considering the subject matter.

I also think you should add some ripple particle effects for water interaction in addition to the spashes and maybe tone the splashes down of the Zebra especially. Water is a very important thing to me ... I love splishy splashy water effects and to feel like I'm really touching the water.

Finally, the Lion -> Zebra interaction could be a lot more convincing. I know that you don't want to go violent ... but maybe you could show the lion smacking the zebra with it's paws and the zebra reacting a bit before just ending up dead on the ground. Nothing too violent but something more interactive looking.

I think you've got a really great game on your hands! I've been looking forward to it for a long time and it didn't disappoint ... just a bit more polish with regard to the interaction and animation and it'd lock anyone in.

Thanks Jeremy!

Yes, that's a bug with the zebras floating above the water. THere's also a bug with the lions being on top of the zebras and not being able to kill them.

Anyways... the polish is coming! THanks for helping out with beta testing!

Video mirrored @ gibthis, visit http://www.gibthis.com/ for the link (topic is: Wildlife Tycoon).

Any chance of me getting some beta info for mirroring? I kept procrastinating on the forums signup...

Great! Nice Gui system, nice learning curve, good graphics... A real winner. When will it go gold? Have you found any publishers?
