Plan for Malarr

Egyptian Summary:

This level is a basic 2-part puzzle and conquers. Where you need to find 3 parts of a scepter. Starting in an oasis and traveling through the desert to the pyramids. Through out the pyramids and underground passages there are hidden doors, enemies and traps. Once you have all three pieces of the scepter you will be able to create a new stronger weapon with your rifle then you will be able to take on the King( A Giant Scorpion).

Game Play:

This is a basic Egyptian level with pyramids, temples, and an oasis. The player will spawn at the oasis and will need to travel through the oasis towards the open desert. Along the way they will encounter a field of mechanic spiders, either running past them if possible or fighting their way through the field.
Passing the field of spiders they will be able to see the pyramids and temple of the great pharaohs. Surrounding the area is a giant wall that is falling apart due to the weathering of the materials. Towers that the guards of the dead used to keep the treasure hunters out of the area.
Once inside the walls you need to go to the tower on the left and go to the top of the tower and pull the lever that will open the entrance to the pyramid. After entering the main pyramid, you will need to travel through the pyramid and the under ground tunnels look for the entrances to the hidden doors and trying to find the 3 pieces of the scepter.

Weapons:

You will start with a basic futuristic rifle that fires energy instead of ammo. Once the weapon fire more then 5 times then there will be a short recharge before you can fire again.
Along the way you may be able to find power ups that will allow you to fire more then 5 times.

Enemies:

There are 3 basic enemies.

First you will encounter the mechanic spiders; basically harmless unless you get to close then they will attack. Shooting them twice can defeat them.

Second you may run into the scorpions. Since this is the future they are equipped with weapons on their tails instead of stingers. So don't get hit.

Third you will run into the mummies. What would an Egyptian level be without them.

Finally you will need to take on the King. A Giant Scropoin that not only has a weapon for a tail (but can toss fireballs.) a big maybe, depends on the time allowed.


Goals:

The goal of the level is to find all three pieces of the scepter and fight the King and return to the portal.

Sounds very nice. I'll keep an eye on your progress ;)

Coincidentally I've been working on an Egyptian themed couple of levels myself. I'm purely in the 'hobbyist in my spare time' category of developers, but I spent some good time this weekend, carving out some terrain for the Pyramids at Giza. I originally thought the Pyramids would be the simplest possible idea for me to model being mainly a programmer. However its extremely easy to get sidetracked into small details, like trying to get your sand just right. I must have spent all of Saturday playing with different bumpmaps and detail textures :P

Hey Kevin,

If you need some help feel free to post something in here, and I may be able to assist in a few ways. I have a familiarity to many of the things you are trying to accomplish already. If there is something that I can do to help you in the creation of this, let me know.
