Plan for Jacob Vann

Spy Jupiter.
That's the name of my project. I have been a Mac programming-hobbyist for quite some time, and have had a lot of quality time with SpriteWorld. Unfortunately, the spriteworld API is starting to show its age. While it is a great, robust, and powerful 2D sprite engine, it leaves certain things to be desired.
For one, it is Mac only. I don't know anyone else that works on Macs, but I know plenty of Windows/Linux people that want to collaborate.
Spy Jupiter will be a very familiar concept to anyone whose played Metroid or Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Metroid is the game that made me want to MAKE games. Torque 2D is surprising me at every turn with how well thought out it is, even at such an early stage. I'm excited to be part of the growing community, and I hope to be an active and contributory member!
Primarily I'm an artist, but I have a CS degree, so go figure. I love programming, but hate wrestling with unnecessary "hurdles." It is 2005, but C-like languages are still the defacto standard. I'm so glad that T2D is breaking the mold. I respect and honor the programmers of 20 years ago that fought memory and coding limitations. Really, you try writing Metroid with about 128k of memory for code AND graphics. But now, with 100-gig drives, and 3 GHz machines and hundreds of megs of VRAM, there are no more performance barriers. The only barriers left are creating great and unique games.
While my game won't necessarily be unique, I hope that it is great.

If so, I applaud you, though I am not a Mac user myself, I have friends who regail me with their tales of woe because so few good games (or games in general)are on the Mac. Now, I understand that the times are changing, and who knows what will happen once Mac gets their new chipset, but it sounds like a fun idea and I would be curious to play it....even if I had to get on a Mac to do so ;)
