Plan for FruitBatInShades

by FruitBatInShades · 07/28/2005 (1:57 pm) · 14 comments

I'm helping out on a project called iNterstices at the moment, won't say much but thought I'd show what I've been up to.

Caves are possible in DIF!
Contrary to popular belief, caves are possible (but NOT easy) to do in DIF. I have created a cave room for the game which was an utter nightmare and only possible because of Matt Fairfax' new map2difplus. This was done in QuArk because it was impossible to get the smooth brush transitions in hammer :P

Just a simple room but with animated textures and stuff :)

Bit peeved that no-one has bought my texture pack :( There have been over 240 downloads of the demo stuff but only 2 sales of the pack :(

We have been unable to buy it because the PayPal link didn't work. Has this been remedied?

Nice cave.

Yeah I find it a little bit odd too. The quality of your texture pack looks great to me.

Yes the paypal link has been fixed. Simple solution in the end but paypal were useless.

That actually looks pretty cool. Nice work on the cave. The lighting is pretty cavey, too.

Nice stuff!

Too bad about your texture pack, theyll wake up soon!

on a side note, your bushcrafting stuff is cool! ive made some rocks tools, and I love it! unfortunetly i keep travelling, and it never seems worth carrying a rock with me, so i always end up chucking them ;(

looking forward to more bushcrafting experiences!

Hi FruitBat,

I'm glad to hear you're working with Kevin Johnson and the iNterstices gang - I really like the work you've done (and are doing!). You guys make an excellent beta team - I'll definitely be coming to you guys again for future beta testing.

(Btw: if you have any questions or comments feel free to contact me directly or to mention them to Kevin Johnson and he'll send them along)

Great work!

Hey Fruitbat -

Your texture pack looks awesome - if I find myself doing anything medieval I'll definitely be considering it. But I'm working on a modern-era game, set in the U.S.A., so I can't really help you :)

Love your efforts on the caves, though! That's awesome! I *will* be making an effort myself on caves in the near future, so it's nice to see it's possible to have great results.

@Josh: Yes, paypal now works. It looks like they couldn't handle their own encryption!

@Nigel: you are not forgotten ;)

@Terence: I used to teach bushcraft skills before I became ill, I'll be posting some more articles on various bushcrafty things as I get a few moments.

@John Kabus: Loving the new toys, just about to finish the lighting those two (cave is a TGE shot at the mo)

@Jay, Firas: Maybe I'll do a little tutorial, but let me tell you, its hard work :)
