Plan for Toby W. Allen

OMG... the end is near.. I've nearly finnished processing all the Mocap data so that I can use it for input to the animations. Although the moves are coming out nicely, from Jet Lee stuff to big jumps and some nice double punchs with jabs and all! Pretty mad stuff. I'm getting some new hardware so I should be able to work faster and better...

oh yeah.. there's TONS of news for GDS Leeds, but right now it's best left quiet until we get closer to september/october.

I'm quite interested in Torque2D.. I must say to have something I can play around with like Torque but in 2D sounds like a blast...

Right back to mocap... ugg!

Does MoCap require expensive equipment and such? I'd definatly be interested if its possible on a tight budget.

Greg,
Typically yeah it does - The cameras are like 3,000 each (pounds), so it's pretty expensive. Leeds Uni has a biomeachnics section which had the eight cameras, I spoke nicely and told them about the project and they allowed us to use it. We're covered by the Union in terms of insurance, but still we didn't want to mess too much with the cameras.

As for the output of all this, well I'll be releasing the full C3D and FBX versions of the data to the public through GDS, as we're an open society. However, these will not be fully polished, they will be the rough cuts, as I can't spend my time polishing them off. We might be able to do something once we've used them and preped them in Max. Maybe make some sort of animation pack for the society.

I would be very interested in looking in to converting these over to work with my skeleton. It sounds like you'd prefer them to be free, which I understand completely, but I could also see this as being a big seller.

Is that a Vicon 8 mocap system , isnt it ?
FBX rules the only one working crossplatform 3d format. We are using it for years...
