Plan for Michael "Evic" Wales

by Michael \"Evic\" Wales · 05/07/2005 (10:51 pm) · 8 comments

So, I've wanted to be productive lately, but getting bored of PHP. When you do it for 9 hours a day at work, your ambition to do it when you get home is a bit lacking. Hopefully, I'll be done w/ a lot of the PHP stuff I've been doing for work next week, and get back to doing my real job. Until that time, phpIndie and my upcoming website gibthis.com have been put on the back burner.

So, to feed my creativity I've been doodling a bit, and trying to come up w/ some good ideas for a T2D platformer. I think I finally got something I'm willing to work with (and something I can do the art for).

So, without further adeu (sp?), I present the obligatory .plan image:

Not much beside that at this point. I just did this like 30 minutes ago, so not much time to come up w/ a design. But, I think it's a pretty good character to start building a platformer around. Should be interesting.

Awwww.... IMHO the bad guy would make a better main character.. hes definitly got the COOL factor..

The bug guy looks a little Pixar/Ants/BugsLife(kiddyish).. he'd make a good victim lol

but still cool!

Yeah, I was kind of thinking a boy using a magnifying glass frying things theme. I may end up switching and using the boy as the main char.

I don't know yet, I'm just doodling and posting what comes out.

Haha the bug should be the bad guy. Just think about how cute he looks. No one would ever suspect...

Are you using a drawing tablet or is that a scan?

I really like the art style of the characters so far.

@Zach
They are scans.

Is the bug going to use lightning between it's mandibles to shoot? :)

No, but I have thought of a few uses for the mandibles. I am thinking of making them a whip-like weapon to attack enemies (as well as being able to jump on enemies), and using them to swing from platforms, hang from them, etc. ala. Bionic Commando.
