Plan for Simon Sancartier

I had never considered writing a .plan before, basically because I had never seen this site before, never seen a site where I could lay down all the information related to my work.
I'm working on a mod for UT, as Game Designer and Lead Artist. You could pretty much say that no one really takes notice if your team as a name when all they use to refer to you is the name of your mod... well, I plan to make game making my living so I had thought up of a name for my company. Now registering to this site makes me think everything is falling in to place slowly.
More about me, I'm a game design/modeling graduate from Centre NAD here in the Montreal area. I've been working on a game document in my spare time when I'm not learning to get organized the hard way. Finding programmers online is a hard task, moreso when I can't afford to pay them.
Which brings us to this point. Lately I've seen first-hand what the V12 engine can do and I'm seriously thinking of licensing the engine to make my mod into a game, the lure of making money with my game is tempting indeed, which I cannot with a UT mod. Only 2 obstacles are still keeping me from this, first one is to find a programmer, at least one, since I can't pay him (yet) I'll have to look for some IT student who doesn't mind doing so because he loves games as much as I do. Second obstacle is that I don't know for sure if the V12 engine can handle what I'd like it to do, gonna see in the forums.
I'd say all this enlightenment comes from the first time I attended an IGDA meeting in their new Montreal Chapter a week ago. I think it kicked my ass, I'm tired of my day job and I wanna make sure that game making will soon BE my day job. It seems harder to get into the industry because everyone wants the same job, everyone is trying to be a jack of all trades to be absolutely sure to land a job. Well... I'm gonna work on more game documents ( gotta be ready to roll them out after we release our first success ;) and brushing up my modeling skills, maybe even finish my drawing book (Drawing On The Right Side Of The Brain, great book) and finally learn to draw... might try skinning my models after that, make me a complete artist. After that, either I get a job, or I buy my licenses and start my own company.
Phew!... and to think I hadn't written a .plan yet because I was sure I had nothing that was worth saying. I see all these peoples making themselves a name by talking to people around in forums, I could probably start doing that, get to know some people, and maybe meet you at the next GDC... who knows?
