Plan for Brett Fattori

It's been a quiet couple of months for me. Lately I've been doing things other than working on dRacer. I think I needed this, because I was fairly burned out (much like Tom Bampton) Anyways, it's been a while. Not much has happened in the 2 months I've been quiet, mainly because I've been on one computer and trying to get the other one up and running.

Well, I should say I'm trying to get my third one up and running. I now have a Linux server with a gob of storage that I'll be transferring many files to... as soon as I get my other PC up and running again. It's how I've wanted to do things for a while. Get a real separation between my development/high-end machine, and my server and low-end machine. Thus I'll finally have a good multiplayer testing environment -- which I badly need.

I'm working on the room, in my basement, that will hold all this computery goodness. The framing went quickly, and the next part is drywall and finally mud-tape-paint. Lastly I'll get carpet in and then I can move my study (finally). I put off doing anything on the room for about 9 months while I worked on foundational pieces of dRacer. However, it's now time to get back to the code... I miss it.

Lastly, I'm all signed up for classes. They begin in 17 days. This might not sound like much, but it's a huge thing for me. Being 33 and not having a degree is a hard thing. When you go to places and give them your resume, the first thing they look for is your degree... Sadly, I never got mine. Back in the day when I went for my BS-CS, I wasn't a math guy. I'm not really a math guy now, but I have a better understanding. Now that I've done work with applied math and not theoretical math. So, I'm signed up for online learning to get my BS-IT (no.. the hyphen isn't in place of an H)

Wish me luck. It's going to be 13 hard, accelerated months. But I'm looking forward to it. This year has, so far, been a year of changes. It started with quitting smoking, and is being followed by getting in shape and getting my degree. My horizon is wide open, and my fortune cookie reads:

"Opportunities don't happen by chance, they are a choice."

Hey Brett. Congrats on quitting smoking and getting in shape. Any chance we'll see the slimmed down not stanky breath Brett next IGC? Anyway, dRacer should be picking up again in not too distant future. Sounds like you will have your hands full with work, school, and whatever you can manage on dRacer.

Good luck Brett. I'm in the same boat with the degree thing. Except I'm 36 now. Have about 2 years towards my 4 year degree, but its really slow when you only take 1 class / semester. So I have work, school, then indie game making. Of course, the game making is the part that suffers...

No, no Brett, you miss understood. When we said "No Degree, no hire." We were actually referring to your deodorant.
