Plan for J Lesko

I hadn't decided to participate in this GID until Sunday night, as I spent most of the weekend playing catchup on some of my bigger projects. I figured I'd set my expectations really low (even for me), and see what I could come up with by the end of the night.

With that in mind, I started out with an idea of an ultra-lame game called "Drivin' Around", where the object of the game is... to drive around. Then, I realized that's mostly what Grand Theft Auto is anyway, so I based it on that, with the twist that the player is supposed to grab a bunch of every day objects -- hence Grand Thrift Auto. I see it as a game for kids whose parents are too strict to let them play the real thing. =)

I spent about 14 hours total, between the game, graphics and web page. I even wrote the little drum beat for the victory screen. The only things I reused were a couple of the sounds from my game Speed Thrasher. Toward the end, I updated the graphics to kinda sorta resemble the GTA style, and I'm pleased with the way it came out.

Cool little game. I love the muzak version of "staying alive" on F2 of the radio.
