Plan for Craig Ball

OK, someone I know called Melv has been harassing me for a long time to start doing more game dev at home, and I agree with him totally.
You know what it's like after a long day of development at work, and you get home and look after the family, then you have to start work on your game after 14 hours of being up. Gah, realy life getting in the way of playtime! Takes one helluva motivation factor to do that.
However, I've negotiated with the said family, and managed to get myself some time off for long term development, especially as my cheeky chappie son is becoming more independant every day.
This morning, I got up with a mission and a purpose. My one weekend mission way to write a simple game in a weekend using T2D. OK, so it wont be Diablo 2, or Quake 4, but it will be a good learning experience for me.
Melv has been a good old stick, and furtively passed me a beta copy of T2D (no you cant have a copy) for personal development. So, I will be using that to create my simple game. I've already got the idea written down, and got my blank T2D Canvas ready to go.
Now all I have to do is code...

lol !!
May I add a tag-line:
"Live the thrill of the airport security staff in this realistic simulatior of a baggage-scanner, finally the real-life suspense comes to a screen near you"

To make Craig shudder, say those three magic words, Threat - Image - Projection *shudder*. Basically a project he's just finished that he's been on since the beginning of time itself.
I seriously think there could be a game in it! We've got x-ray imagery of lots of dangerous devices so we could do it. :)
I do like your tag-line. Maybe there'd be an area where you could go to wait for your flight for hours! Kill the hours by trying to get through security fences and riding the elevators.

@Jorgen: Craig works with me at 3DX-Ray where we've developed the worlds-first xray-baggage inspection system for airports so we might actually get around to doing this as a game. :)To make Craig shudder, say those three magic words, Threat - Image - Projection *shudder*. @Craig - Now we have to kill you... getting the beta was a test to see if you could keep it a secret. I'm sure its no secret how amped Melv and GG are about T2D and of course if your baggage X-Ray game isn't fun you know something that rich could only have the life sucked out of it by the tool. Enjoy. I hesitate to ask the two of you about Strata... oh forget it, with all the work going into T2D thats just not fair... have fun. Can't wait to here the first bug reports.

Im sure the airport scanner idea has loads of potential. Not something Skunkworks would be developing any time soon though - Melv and I have had our fill of XRay machines! Perhaps you should do this as your game in a day project Jay. I can provide you with some XRay images if you want them.
@All
Anyway, back to the .plan. I managed to get accomplished what I set out to achieve this weekend - a simple game where you have a number of rocks at the top, and you are presented with a rockpile at the bottom that you have to copy. No scores, no sound, no matter. I got the thing working as I wanted. I will probably add scores, sound, some particles, and increasing difficulty. My son Ryan is as good a beta tester as any. I might change the rocks to something child friendly like teddy bears, or teletubbies or something.
Oh, hang on, who is that agitated, balaclava wearing, knife wielding man knocking on my door. Oh how cute, he's wearing a garage games T-Shirt.

@Jay. I dont think 'amped' portrays it - on the hour drive each morning and night with Melv, I cant get a word in edgeways! I think the next thing you should be selling is T2D steroids, because I think Melv's on them. He's a bit like Beavis on sugar - the great Melvholio.Im sure the airport scanner idea has loads of potential. And before anyone asks, Craig and I work together and unfortunately for Craig, he's had to put up with me talking about both the good and bad times I've had with T2D. Now that it's blossoming, I thought it only fair to let Craig have a sample of what I've been boring him with over the last 4 months. Besides, he'll find bugs in it, even if he has to add them just to wind me up!
Unfortunately now, this means that I'll have to find something else to bore him with on the long journey to work each morning. :)
I can't wait to see what you come up with Craig. I thought the idea of a side-scroller airport baggage-scanner had potential. ;)

BTW: Craig's an old git too, he's just in denial. And he smells of wee and puts dampners on things. *personal joke*
