well after two years of starting games that i never finished about seven months ago i went all out and decided to not make the next doom or big thing but stick small but not too small and made a game im happy with. i finished it about a week ago and am currently waiting as to what to do next, ive emailed garagegames with a demo but they said they wouldnt look at it without first a description, screenshots and a website. well i dont have a website but i do have a project page here with info and finished screenshots if anyone would like to look at them. it here

http://www.garagegames.com/index.php?sec=mg&mod=project&page=view.project&qid=2666

i always wanted to make a game with zombies in it and im happy with the final result, although ive had to cut things i wanted in during the development process, i think the final result still stays true to what i wanted. one of the things i cut was music, but it turned out to be a good thing, instead of listening to some techno music or whatever youll hear the wind and errie breathing noises. i think it makes for good atmosphere. well im done now, i hope i dont have to get a .com for gg to publish it as im just a student but oh well.

Only the first pic works for me.

Anyways, it looks OK, but not near polished enough for Garagegames to publish.

What engine did you use?

Good luck to you.

it says in the about part that i used the quake2 engine. oh and geocities has a cap on how much you can download every hour or so, so im guessing thats why you couldnt see the rest.

You have exceeded you Geocities bandwidth. Like Tim said, congratulations on what you think is a completed project. It is a good thing to have one under your belt.

However, I can tell you without looking that a FPS using the Quake II engine will not be published by GarageGames. That should not stop you from trying to sell your game if you think it is good enough. The market will very quickly tell you if they think it is good enough.

would it be to much of a problem if you told me why a fps using the quake2 engine would not be published by garagegames?

although i appreciate the reply i did not quite understand it. are you saying that garagegames has already published a fps q2engine indie based game? or that a fps q2engine indie based game was published and didnt do well? could you explain further? if its not to much trouble.

Looks pretty fun. I love a mindless gore fest every now and then, and retro graphics dont bother me. If only I could see the pics heh.

I dont think you would make much money off of it however.

Hey,
The graphics might not be the best in the world, but they're pretty damn good for Quake II engine. I think, if legally possible, you should make an attempt at selling this and marketting towards the market with older machines. I'm sure theres some people out there looking to get some gaming fun on their old machines, without being forced into playing the same game over and over again.
Just my two cents, but I think it's still a marketable product if you look at it in the right light.

@ Someone i'm assuming that GG wants to publish unique games that you don't see all of the time. There are a million fps's out there. Even if your game is the best fps since HL2. Also if GG if going to publish a FPS i'm sure they would want it to be made with TGE or TSE in order to pimp their engine. Which I think is a good idea btw.

So I agree with the others that you should try to sell it on your own.

Good luck to you. I'm going to check out your game.

Sorry to be short, but as I explained at IGC, last year, we got over 500 game submissions. We don't have time to explain in detail why we won't publish a game. It would take more than my full time to do so. That is why we highly encourage you to sell your game on your own if you think it is good enough. Many people are doing it and being very successful.
