Plan for Jay Moore

Ok, I'd better stop... Major Livingston's work doesn't deserve this kind of torture...

A phenomenal year in the Garage

IGC usually helps me peg the progression, but I noticed it most at GGs Christmas party this year. Way back in 2003 it felt like we'd really made amazing expansions we had Alex, Brian, Karen, along with myself, Jeff, Mark, Rick and Tim, plus spouses and other friends of the GG and it felt like family. This year the naughty and nice list was much longer adding Ben Garney, Josh Williams, Pat Wilson, Robert Blanchet, Benjamin Bradley and Timothy Aste (I'll leave out who was on which list). What a great team and it still feels like family - in a good way.

In many ways I feel the same way about our community - as Phil said about IGC its like an extended family reunion. The associates and 3rd party developers (wow that just sounds so formal) to everyone who is having fun making indie games this community as Josh would say 'just rocks and is so awesome'.

Their are times when you can look back and you know you were in the zone, but it doesn't take a crystal ball now at GG, all you have to do is look at white boards and if even a few of the deals going on in NDA conversations happen we're definitely be in the zone in 2005. So if you've been watching us the last few years and like what you've seen, fasten your seatbelts because 2005 promises to be a breakout year for everyone around the Garage. Proof that starve-up companies with raving fans can change the world.

Need for a Ta Dah! - (drum roll please)

At IGC we rolled out the new GarageGames logo and have been getting it integrated as we go. We didn't have time for a lot of fan fair or any marching bands when we premiered the new look for Torque brand with Torque ShowTool Pro, but you'll be seeing this look on the entire Torque platform as we move forward. There will be some unique personality for each product, but the design look across the brand will have continuity.

BHAGs - Big Hairy Audacious Goals for 2005

I had to smile today when I read Max Thomas's comment on the TST Pro Dev. snapshot:
Quote:Torque is really turning into a game engine that you can use all in one program like flash or director.
Torque is becoming a full dev. platform with more announcements about handhelds and consoles coming in 2005.

If you were at IGC or read the follow-up you know most of the insider secrets we're able to share, but a short list of fun coming in 2005:

  • Launch Torque 2D (eventually as a GameMaker)
  • Launch GG Press - line of books
  • Launch TSE v. 1.0
  • Launch Zap! the game
  • Launch TGE 1.4 and 1.5
  • Torque Bootcamp
  • IGC 2005 - The best indie game dev. party on the planet
  • More Starter Kits, Tools and Content
  • Lots of 'awesome' games from Torque developers (we're makn' a list and checkn' it twice)

  • To everyone who is part of this truly amazing community ...
'To all Merry Christmas and to all a good night.'

    Jay,
You have the crazy ability to make me all pumped up for just about anything. Even if it's stuff I'll never use.

I can see why you are in marketing!

Happy holidays to you and everyone at GG

I share your sentiments, Jay. Ive only been around since the spring, yet it's a long enough time for me to see that GarageGames is a *community* in every sense of the word. I feel appreciated, encouraged, and inspired by everyone here.

Besides that, I have to echo Charlie's statement... I read your post and BAM! Im so damn pumped to be indie! (more so than usual) :)

Anyway, have yourself a very happy holiday. :)
