Plan for Jason "nuvem" Kozak

And so, another game bites the dust.

Ever since my computer gave me a personal demonstration of what a lightning bolt looks like, I've been playing around with SDL/OpenGL, and consequently, simplier game designs.

One of them being an action/strategy style game involving spherical robots that roll around marble like when not mounting numerous vehicles and trying to take over a number of energy generation points on the map (which could be expanded into bases).

Sadly, once I had a prototype, it wasn't as fun as it sounded. There was really no point to rolling around like a marble, other than to make your way to a vehicle, so you could actually do something.

That said, Zap has been an interesting inspiration. I used to love subspace back in the day, and that's more or less what Zap is. Which gives me a new idea to prototype, that takes advantage of the code I wrote for the previous prototype... take the same simple/fun gameplay, but put it on land.

Seems worth a shot. The base gameplay is a sure bet, with plenty of ways to spice it up (how loadouts work, etc.). At the very least, some interesting vehicle physics could make it worth while, and there are plenty of avenues to explore with regards to what you can do with terrain.

See you all in a month (or three, considering the only time I have to code is a few hours every morning :)

Sounds like a great idea ;) If you'd like some help with map design send an e-mail to wezoin@rogers.com (I would send one to you but due to there not being one in your profile I can't :S)
