Plan for Lexxa "Lexx" Silfverski

This is my first post on Garage Games so I'll try not to bore anyone too much. I heard about this site from a relative who was planning a game and asked me to do some writing for it. Eventually I learned how to model in 3D and began to get interested in that.
I came here to maybe learn some things about modelling - especially skinning which is something I REALLY need to learn - and maybe help those who aren't the best at writing to improve texts for their projects.
Edit: I mean that I'm horrible at making textures to use as skins. I can map a model, fill it with lines and colors, but I dont have the artsy skills to make it look real.

Doing a search here should turn up a good amount of skinning resources, and there's even more on the web. Don't underestimate the power of searching the forums and resources, as most of the time, the question you might have is probably answered in an older thread. Good Luck!

Edit: One more thing... Do participate in forums and IRC, both to gain and pass on knowledge. It's the best part of this community that people so readily spread the wealth when and where they can.

I'm trying to learn, too - you are probably already beyond my skills. I modeled the wrench in Void War - it's a fine-looking wrench, if I do say so myself, and represents the extent of my skills I'm afraid.

What sort of writing experience do you have? Have your short stories been published yet?

In terms of game art community on IRC, I would recommend #indieart on the Max Gaming server. Not a lot of demand for writers in indie game development unfortunately, but it's a useful second skill to have. I'm hoping to write all the material for our game myself, including a big fat manual (or even a strategy guide).
