Hey all!
I just updated Games Extract with a few items. There is now a "wood" texture section. Also. "Brick/stones" has been updated with around 10 new textures.
Also in texture news, Ive decided to make everyhing I upload 512x512 instead of 256x256. I was inspired equally by Half Life 2 and Tim Aste. Higher res textures rule. The extra pixels make everything look so much better.
Finally, I reuploaded the character starter geometry as .3ds. In about a week Im also going to upload .obj versions. The .max wasn't doing anyone any of good.
So thats all with Games Extract. Now for where Im going... Im pretty excited about it all.
First, let me preface this by saying that no one should consider this an "official announcement". As far as im concerned, making an official announcement of something thats in an early state is the first step in having it become a dead project. It's like a curse or something. That said, Im currently making a series of flora content packs Evergreens, deciduous trees, palm trees, grasses, flowers, bushes... the whole nine. Ultimately I want to have seasonal textures on the ones that could use them.
Right now I have a selection of flowers and grasses finished. Im currently focusing on evergreens. Here is a quick shot of the latest.

No estimation on when these will be done. In all likelihood, I'll release them in intervals. Pine Forest, Palm Forest, Seasonal Textures, etc. I dont plan on charging for them... but I suppose its always a possibility.
Also on the agenda are some Torque specific tutorials. These are a lower priority than the flora packs, so I probably wont actually get started for a month or so. The first one is going to cover creating a wheeled vehicle from start to finish; Modeling, texturing, and setting up the suspension. Im entertaining the idea of having it be a series of video tutorials. It depends if I can get Fileplanet or some other similar site to host the files. I
Thats all for now. My birthday is in a couple days and Im going out for a little early celebrating. :)
