Plan for Canon

by Canon · 11/21/2004 (6:49 am) · 11 comments

I received several emails from community members and GG employees with each time the same question : "what's going on with MiniOne Racing ?".
So.The MiniOne development is not stopped, but slowed down, and the principal reason is my new day job (wake up at 6.30 am, come back at home at 7-8pm). It's the principal reason, but not the only one: there is also my son, my new girl friend, my friends and, of course, the Belgium beers.

MiniOne : Marketing, localizations and Poland
So, what's new ?
- A few marketing visuals. They are destined to the game press, publishers communication and the box art.

For each visual I made several layers (3D renders, in game screenshots, photoshop work ...) in order to obtain a correct and high resolution result (the printed press needs 300DPI files).

- A German localization of Minione was done by our Mac publisher and my girl friend is currently working on a Dutch translation of the game (for the Netherland and also the Belgium market).

- Polish guys will be the first to play with MiniOne Racing. Our PC publisher had signed a contract for a cover with a Polish magazine so we'll deliver him a light version of MoR. It's very difficult to have a box distribution in eastern europe because of the piracy, publishing MoR like this is our only option for this countries. The magazine will be out in a few weeks.

The futur of Frogames
Mathieu is working on the GPM (Game Project Manager). I'm the graphist of the project - ok, i just made the logo :) - and the only betatester. This tool will be very useful !!!! See the .plan of Mathieu for more infos.
We are discussing about our next game. I have a lot of ideas !! But we have decided to make a very very small game (the MiniOne developement was too long for a very first game).

Quark adventures
What I love to do is 3D and 2D art, but the MiniOne development no longer needs arts.
So, I decided to work on 3D models, made from a few concept arts i made since 6 months.

It's just the beginning but I already have some problems. Why is there models displacements, textures coordinates problems, and lights problems with my .DIF while all is perfect in Quark ?

I remember a thread in the GG forum about similar problems and i hope it will help me. Another solution is to remake my 3D model ...

cant really speak for the texture errors but regarding the misaligned vertices:
Have you un-checked the "Don't write floating points coords" in the menu Options -> Configuration -> Map Options ?

I had similar problems, that fixed it.

Nice looking house.. :)

Nice and stylish buildings indeed. In screens it looks like you`ve made them modular, if its so, they stick together really well.

I like the cartoony look too. Good stuff. Want the same kind of feeling myself to be honest.

Just dont quite have the artistry to create it. Maybe someday I'll try again. Or maybe I'll just get on with some programming :)

@Nauris
No, it is just one building. I dont have any plan to use it, so no reason to make a modular system.

@Adam DeGrandis
Thank you Adam !

@Phil Carlisle
you already are a great developper Phil ;)
