Plan for Neil Marshall

I'm flying out tomorrow for "in person" interviews at a large video game company. In one of the phone interviews I've had with them, GarageGames came up and the guy I was talking too actually has something on this site (I won't mention who it is though I'm sure he doesn't want to be bugged by people).
Actually they have slated 4 interviews with multiple people (10 people in total) which on top of the 3 phone interviews just seems a little crazy to me. I hope I get it. I just hope daylight saving time plus flying 3 time zones doesn't screw me up too badly for the interview(s).
For people with jobs in the industry, is it normally like this when trying to get a job? No one else I know has ever gone through 7 interviews to get a job.

7 interviews is not crazy. I did 5 interviews for one internship, and 4 for another one. That was just an internship, so 7 I wouldn't be suprised at all.

Its becoming quite normal to have a lot of different interviews. Personally, I find it a pain in the ass.

Ive usually flown out and spoken to people for a day or so. Never had much of an issue getting the job though (apart from the valve gig where I had a few nerves). Its becoming quite normal to have a lot of different interviews. Personally, I find it a pain in the ass.

3 phone interviews. #2 they actually had the wrong person call... they had a programmer call instead of a technical director. I still answered his programming questions though, they were no problem.4 in person interviews all on the same day.

Well that was fun. Now it's just a waiting game.

Oh, by 7 interviews, you mean 7 interviews before the onsite one for the one job, or is it the 7th job you've had at least a callback for ?
'cause the first,. while a bit extreme (7 !!), is quite normal : they want to weed out as many candidates as possible before flying them in, etc.
The second : either you don't fit the profile for game dev, which doesn't seem to be the case, or you jsut weren't presenting/"selling yourself" properly, as in my experience, the hard part is getting the interview : I've rarely, if ever had a real interview for a job and didn't walk out with the job or got a job offer within the next few days :)
