We just got our first royalty check from the primary distributor of Outpost Kaloki. Hooray!
I now have an opinion on how to properly get involved in the downloadable games market:
Don't.

I think I'm gonna have my cousins buy this. They are into this kind of tycoon stuff. (maybe it has to do with their "controlling" attitudes :P)
Hope you do well!

This game looks super. But, I seemed to ghave trouble with the second scenario, with the princess. It seemed as if I was constanly looking at the trade screen rather than enjoying my time. I also failed to reach it. Then I decided to do a sandbox, but i started to notice the docks burning. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do. Then I went bankrupt and lost. If you could maybe add more information about how to fix things that are burning in the first one then it would help some people. I also noticed I could hardly keep up with all the costs. Maybe it's just me, but the gameplay seemed to be lacking what I would call fun. YET, it was VERY WELL DONE! I loved the sound, the graphics, and all around everything. Your website I think needs a little bit more work to it, I don't really like the entire yellow page myself. Kind of burned my eyes, but my room is a little dark, too. I loved this game! First game that has grabbed me and made me tell everyone I know in a *long* time. If I weren't flat broken this month I would have bought it immediately (I was even debating just how small of a food budget I could get by on ;) I would love for GG to publish this title so that I could support both the developer and GG =)

Specifically I think the following quote applies to your game:
I didn't get any real feeling of what I got if I paid for the full version. How many more levels, new things, etc. Maybe it was somewhere, but I didn't notice it and I played until my time was up. I also just went back and looked at the download web site. Nothing really there that tells me. Might be something you can add.
Hope it goes better.

Have you looked at Can I Make Money as an Indie?Specifically I think the following quote applies to your game:
Quote:
"Be obvious about what the player gets in the demo" David said, "be obvious about what the player gets in the full version"

One thing that struck me - your own website has Void War listed as first, now, I`ve nothing against Jay Barnson, heh, buit from your business point of view its not the best.
Also, there are no screens for your game on page one. Void War thumnail at least gives some idea about the game - its space shooter, alright. Kaloki thumnail doesnt tell anything about what i could anticipate from the game, and your screens look much better than the thumbnail :) so use them. They are appetizing.
just my 2 cents, of course.
