Plan for Jay Moore

Time compresses as you get older I'm sure of it... and work expands to fill all time available. In 2002 when we decided to 'go for it' and announced IGC just 5 weeks before we had it in November. Many of things like a program (remember the one schedule taped down to the registration table), expansive website, Game In a Day, IndieJam weren't even options let alone, priorties. But we knew we wanted to keep it real and have fun and we t-shirts and computers from nVIDIA what more could we need.
Everyone that was there remembers "World Domination Through Collaboration" and even without much sleep I do remember it as alot of fun and what it meant to see Pascal 'royally pissed'.
Phil posted a .plan today about IGC (he really has been paying attention to those marketing books he's reading) and I realized that in many ways IGC is all about being an expression of the GG community and I look forward to it because of the relationships and the people we have the priveledge to work with. I pimp IGC hard all year inviting people I've met at MacWorld, GDC, e3, DLS, CGDC and sometimes just on the street, but its not about filling up the event (we'll find a way to cover the catering and beer) its all about the people and seeing the connections that happen.
Making connections, playing eachothers games and meeting people you only see on IRC or in the forums adds so much context and depth to the relationships we enjoy remotely. The GG community is truely amazing.
In network theory I'm one of those people referred to as a 'connector' - if you're my friend you're likely to meet my other friends and possibly end up being friends with my friends, and so on. At first Linkedin.com was a bit of a drug for me as I watched the dynamics of my social networks cross polinate and grow (since I've fallen off the 1st page of those Linked in the game industry I've lost interest). BTW - If you haven't read Tipping Point or The Anatomy of Buzz - the science of word of mouth marketing they are useful in considering how build a fan base around your game.
If asked for one reason you should come to IGC, I will not say the sessions, or IndieJam (although its a great memory), or the LANParty, or the ShowOFF center (although it truely is the soul of IGC), it is hands down the people. So the most important piece each year will always be who is going to be there.
See you at IGC.
BTW - please don't email me after the prices go up on SEPTEMBER 17th to ask for the $150 price - its just not scientifically possible :)

Dont forget to sign up for the Game In A Day event, too. No excuses, run along to www.garagegames.com/pg/product/view.php?id=20 to get your ticket now! In fact, just to make it REALLY easy, you canclick here to add an IGC ticket into your cart right now ;-)

Anyone coming to IGC who wants to sing at Indie JAM? I have a spoof of an old standard, titled "Stuck in the middle with Noobs". Who's game?

IGC is definitely a kick, from a lot of different perspectives. Gonna be a blast to see everyone there again this year :-)
Paul: Hmmm... I might be tempted. However, I'd have to sing a lot louder this time - it would loose some effect if it was sung as quietly as LaGrange was :-) Mind sharing the lyrics, and I'll take a stab to see if I could pull it off?

Jay: Man, you need to print some more World Domination Through Collaboration T's. Both of mine are getting REALLY faded from wearin' them at least once every other week. :-) (I love the saying :-)IGC is definitely a kick, from a lot of different perspectives. Re: The GID ...
David Grace and I are teaming up. It would be interesting to put together a largeish team and see what we can do. Craig will hopefully be around for a few hours during the live bit of GID at IGC on Friday. Anyone else interested in going utterly mad and trying to pull off something semi large and nifty ?

I'd sing at IGC, but someone would have to teach me to sing first since i have no idea if i can or not, but im leaning towards not :)Re: The GID ...
