Plan for Ian Roach

Work as been slowly progressing on illumina since my last update.

Ive just got back from 2 weeks in San Francisco. Had an amazing time and managed to explore alot of the city.

Illuminas first real multiplayer test took place last week. Some might say this is weird considering where a multiplayer only game but due to differing timezones e.t.c we were never really able to conduct extensive testing.

Thankfully we will be making this a more regular occurance.

Unfortunetaly the multiplayer test brought up alot of stability problems. With clients crashing by firing various weapons and just alot of instability all round.

Weve decided to make the decision to merge to the new 1.3 codebase as a result.

Thankfully alot of illumina can easily be ported as we were previously working of a very old codebase with alot of community resources added in (thanks to all who contribute)

We will be slowly going back to a stocl torque 1.3 which has most of our needed resources already in (fxlight e.t.c) and will then be adding in our features one by one and testing online to ensure we dont add any instability.

Whilst we do the codemerge side of things our artists are continuing to work on our gui and weapons / vehicles.

Heres a quick shot of our night vision

Other areas added in recent times are

- improved vehicle physics, jeeps no longer fall through terrain, flying vehicles have better hovering ability and dont hover away when you "park" it :)
- added custom control settings for each type. I.e custom setups for marine, wheeled vehicles, flying vehicles
- improved our commander gui. Commanders can now zoom/pan and soon will be able to set waypoints for there teams. This will be expanded to launch superweapon attacks on selected zones.
- skinned the new shotgun
- continued adding some more of our assualt weapons.

Hopefully our next update will be good news as our multiplayer sessions go a little more smoothly.

Hey, great to hear about all the progress on Illumina :) It always looks great, keep up the good work. If you happen to get an extra multiplayer testing slot....

Sweet! Sorry to hear about your instability troubles, but its good to see you're taking it in stride and working on resolving the issues. I look forward to playing this in the future!
