Plan for Jay Moore

by Jay Moore · 07/22/2004 (2:28 pm) · 13 comments

Each year IGC planning starts earlier, but in the spirit of keeping it real and just a little spontaneous the promotional calendar always seems to get pushed too close to the event.

The new look for the IGC '04 website is up (you may need to refresh to not see an old cached version of the site if you've visited recently) and we'll be updating the content, launching registration around the first week of August and announcing all the speakers and sponsors joining us to make this year another event not to be missed. If you've come in years past we're going to be back at the Mallard Hall and pack all the action into the same venue again this year.

If half of the planned announcements, tools and games show up that have been discussed this promises to be a very exciting time, but as with the last two years just getting to see everyone again and hang out really has me looking forward to the event.

The heart and soul of the event is the ShowOFF center where anyone can bring in their new prototypes, betas and demo games for all of us to play. As anyone who has 'put it out there' will tell you the learning that is done with the play and feedback of your peers is amazing. This year we have nVIDIA coming back with great hardware and Apple working to get us some uber G5's and it looks like we'll have some hot gaming boxes running Linux to play on as well.

Stay tuned for more updates and if you want to be sure you're on our mailing list for when we open registration subscribe to the Developer Newsletter and we'll get the word out.

We need MORE SINGERS for the Indie Jam. Last year we were short on singers. If you can sing and are going to attend IGC then please contact either me or Justin Mette.

Doen't Jay look like he is singing in the picture above?

To be totally honest I'm done with the GDC. I've never been to E3, and I dont plan on it.

From my personal experience I've gotten the best information from small local gatherings. If it were not for the fact that you guys were at the GDC I do belive it would have been a total waste.

I have not been, but I'm convinced that Indie Games con has got to be one of the best things going as far as conferences go.
