Plan for Chris "DiGi" Timberlake

Anyway, this plan isn't anything new and exciting really. I Deleted the last plan, because Jeff was right, this isn't a place for it. I never thought that I was wasting bandwith, and Jeff, I am truely sorry, it wount happen again.

Now, that I have that off my chest. I have recently found the linux distrabution for me. Cobind Desktop 0.2, Yes it is very new, and has some bugs. (Still can't figuare out that stupid G++ Bug!) Its based upon Fedora Core 1, and XFCE, that means no KDE or Gnome desktop stuff. Except it does use their libraries for the applications, and the gnome desktop. It is very decent, very easy to install, I recommend it to any Linux/Unix Newbie. If anyone needs help with it, don't be afraid to holler. I will make time and help.

Onto the map editor, I am configuaring my Linux Desktop, using wine to install the programs I need (SharpDevelop, Compilers) so far, its coming along very well, at the end of the day I should have SharpDevelop working and able to compile it. We are still in the stage of design and I understand thet Fruit is hosting a PHP-Collab system for us, which should help greatly. We will probably set up an IRC Channel somewhere so that we can talk and plan.

My project (American Warfare) is going rather slowly. :( Which imo sucks. We recently got a new modeler on the team (Dan^) and i'm in the process of Teaching Dan^ how to import a vehicle into Torque, then I'm going to have him import our 20 weapons (Estimate). Then i'll be having him recruit other modelers and teach them so our Modelering side will be taken care of. The Mapping side is pretty much halted because of the editor not being done, and lack of textures. Other then that, stuff is progressing.

P.S. Wouldn't it be awsome if cobind combind wine with their desktop, and added awsome support for wine, similer to crossover office? If they did, i'm sure theyd have kudos. Anyways i'm off now to go raid my fridge!

Also, Jeff, again i'm very sorry.

No it wouldnt be awesome. Instead of wasting time on that I rather have people use time on porting or making native apps. Wine works(tm), but it's far from perfect, it's a good intermediate solution, but it's the worse nightmare in the long run. I've been using wine for like 7 years, so I'm not judging without knowing what I'm talking about.

Well, it will be native, its just i'm using SharpDevelop to run the tools, cross-platform wount be for a while anyway, because of the compilers not being finished.
