Plan for Jason Sharp

by Jason Sharp · 05/20/2004 (12:28 pm) · 4 comments

So for some reason this is my first .plan. I guess Paul has been slaving me so hard on Bit Shifter that I haven't had time to 'wax' about it publicly. Anyway, we are behind on our promised "map every other week or so" update on Bit Shifter Alpha. This is mostly due to the great feedback we got from the gracious folks who tested the first round.

The largest request we received was for "more bits" which couldn't make us any happier. Of course we wouldn't send Flash Bios out to do battle with the evil Colonel Panic with only one bit. Flash is tough, cunning, and brave, but he isn't THAT good.

We should have a new map ready to go next week as well as some changes to the flight model and plenty of other small tweaks to make it worth checking out.

Again, thanks to all those that tested round 1. You are helping us make the best game possible and we absolutely appreciate your efforts.

If you haven't checked Bit Shifter out and wish to do so go here!

Your game looks and plays great, I have had a lot of fun playing it. It just goes to show that all of that "slaving" pays off. :)

I wanna take a moment here to give kudos to Paul and John and the rest of the BitShifter folks (if any :P).

Paul recently had me playtest BitShifter, and I gave him some hard feedback - I told him that the controls sucked, that they were fundamentally messed up. I figured I'd really have to fight to get it changed, or that he'd never change it at all.

To my surprise, a a little while later he sent me a new build of the game with a dramatically different and hugely better control scheme. He'd really listened to the feedback he was getting! The game was a load more fun because the ship moved in a way that made sense.

It takes a lot of maturity and self-honesty to do that sort of thing, and I'm really glad to see that BitShifter is moving in the direction it is. Paul, John, and co. - you guys are doing a great job. Congratulations on making it this far - I hope we're eventually in a position to sell BitShifter for ya! :)
