Plan for Joshua Ritter

There is a list of some 100 items that need to be done/addressed/created before capturing and editing the first video for our game. The list is up on the wall, in permanent marker, so you know it's getting down there...

The purpose of the video is promotional, though everything we are creating for it will be in the final game... We are working off a very good storyboard, which I believe is essential... otherwise, your video risks being random gameplay strung together.

Ever since the bottom fell out of my finances, I have known: This can't look like a struggling independent game. We have to stand out. We have to make it look easy.

It isn't.

PS: I am really, really, really looking forward to this initial release. From that point on, I can make frequent coolness updates, screenshots, etc. There are very few people that know Prairie Games exists, much less is making a game. You never get another chance to make a first impression. The first impression of our game/company is very important to me. Well, obviously :)

those of us who have been around GG (the community) know who "Joshua" is and his indie game dev company "Prairie Games".. what we don't know about is the blockbuster game he speaks of....

I think it's an FPS where you try to shoot all the prairie dogs when they pop out of their holes. ;-)

Or maybe you avoid killer tumbleweeds?

Or you're on the Oregon Trail and every time you get attacked you have to type in the answer to a math question?

Sounds like you need to rename your company to Prayer Games! ;)

Good luck! I've always thought that the external image for a small company was essential. But I never realised how much until I saw the quality of my brother's work that he sent out to prospective clients for his Graphic Design firm.

Prayer Games indeed... some days the faith is a bit stronger than others... There's also quite a few days where I can't figure out why the hell I am doing this at all...

Probably something to do with it mostly being a blast.

If you ever need a kick in the pants, just read back over old posts and plans you've made, and remember your enthusiasm that you have hidden away. It's the only thing that keeps me in front of the computer sometimes.
