Plan for Matt Sayre

Life is so crazy and random sometimes! I finished this piece late Saturday night, and then Sunday night it was on the radio up here in Seattle! I can't say what the music was for, but it was very well-received on the radio and I was on a high for the whole next day. I certainly wasn't expecting it to be on the radio so quickly when I finished it. But crazy unexpected stuff like that certainly makes life interesting.
I gotta say, I love making music and sound effects for indie games. Sure, I'd love to get a nice juicy contract from one of EA's big games or something, but there's something about indie games that's so fresh and vital I just love being a part of it. I'm really glad I went to IGC last year, and I encourage more audio types to go this year! Just meeting the guys from 21-6 was reason enough to go, but learning more about the indie scene was fascinating. GravRally winning the top prize was pretty sweet, too I must say... I know how hard they worked on it getting it in shape for the show. Indie Jam was a blast too. ;)
But, you know, there's a LOT of competition out there in audio for games! Sure, most of it seems like high schoolers with a copy of ACID and an attitude, but there's definitely competition. Luckily, there are plenty of gigs for those really looking for them. But, with new audio companies being listed on Gamasutra almost daily, it seems there are too many lions feeding on this zebra. What a crappy analogy. Anyway, I decided to turn this competition into my advantage and I've started making sample collections for composers. The first one I've done is Front Porch Banjo for GigaStudio and it has had a great first month. There will be more in the "Front Porch" series, including a gut bucket (which I can't wait to build!), but it's been a great way to turn a seeming problem (competition) into a nice stream of revenue.
Also, I'm terribly terribly excited about shaders in Torque. If I actually knew what that was. Seems cool though. Probably.

Matt's been doing music and sound effects for 21-6 as long as I can remember. GravRally really shows off his talents and we can't wait to unleash the unbelievable sound track that game has. In the shorter term though - Matt is lending his audio expertise to Mark My Words and TubeTwist which should be out in the next couple of months. If you need audio work done - Matt Sayre Audio (www.mattsayreaudio.com) is the place to go.

Yes, Matt is king. He did all the music and most sounds for us on Produce Panic/

Justin provided the guitar tracks for one of the GravRally tunes... and they're really good. Multi-talented man, that Justin. Thanks for the kind remarks.
And thanks, Mike and Dylan. So when is Produce Panic coming out anyway, Dylan? That music was a lot of fun to make.
