Plan for Kevin McLaughlin

Well, as we come toward the deadline for final design document completion next month, I look around at the heaps of notes and paperwork we've generated. It's been a long and winding road, with several breaks in the process, but we're finaly closing on completion of this critical phase.
In retrospect, I'll say it's been frustrating to not be able to get into the development during the design; but I'd strongly advise anyone else to do a detailed design phase before starting on a major project. When completed, we'll have full writeups of every single element of the game to be implemented. Details of how things should look, algorithms for code snippits we will need to add to Torque, lists of every bit of art required (and there are tons, my main hat right now is Art Director along with co-designer), map lists and sketches, lists of everything listable and details of every element we could conceive.
I'm sure we missed stuff. But I'm just as sure that the doc will be an incredible tool for the development process. We should enter development the middle of March, and hope to have a very basic test platform with minimal functionality ready to test around June.
