Plan for BobTheCBuilder (John Kabus)

by John Kabus (BobTheCBuilder) · 01/03/2004 (2:00 am) · 13 comments

...and I have to admit the results look good.

A quick rundown of the scene layout:

The pipes, supports, and light fixtures are all statics. The hallways and boxes are interiors (one interior).

The textures are only slightly modified textures from the Torque demo. The radioactive goo light and spotlights are mission level lights, the red warning lights are interior level lights (compiled in the map file), and the fire has a dynamic light attached to it for a cool flickering effect (see my dynamic fire plan).

The spotlights are using a modified version of the volumeLight resource (not required for the lighting pack) for the streaks. Oh and the radioactive goo is a water block.

I also have a small walk through available (requires dixv 5.1) that was done in Fraps (unfortunately Fraps makes everything look choppy). (no longer available)

Btw: do any of you know of a better video capture tool than Fraps? Every time I run Fraps it consumes the majority of my system resources. I purposely keep my dev environment low (P3 800mhz and GF2 Pro), so I don

I think Torque has a hideous sort of movie renderer in it - it just captures screenshots every tick. You might be able to hack it up so that it only advanced time after taking a screeny, thus yielding a nice 32fps stream of images...

There were some nicer ones written for Tribes 2 you could probably convert to Torque use

This info is bad. I goofed up while capturing the video. I still had anisotropic filtering and antialiasing cranked up all the way up on my video drivers. After I turned them off fraps was running fine (not to mention that my frame rate sky rocketed).

I usually play games and develop with these on, it just looks better, but it was affecting fraps.

Sorry for the confusion.

Any word on whats happening and when this will be available?

It looks great tho! I could really do with a nice light for the lava effect
