Plan for Melv May

Everyone,

As you may know, our team have been working hard on developing our new game, Strategem. So far we've put-off developing a web-site for a very long time as we thought it was important to work on the game itself rather than putting all our efforts into a web-site.

Being as we're really getting through the development of Strategem now, we decided that it was about time that we started sharing some of our progress with you and try to keep everyone up-to-date as we go along.

Please come and visit us at our new site at IndieSkunkWorks. If you have any problems then please report them so that we can fix them ASAP.

We'll be expanding the information over the next few weeks but for now we've got back-dated news, some backstory for the game, a description of gameplay, a gallery and forums.

The in-game shots are without the particle-effects which are being worked on right now. We do show you lots of shots of the entities and some icons showing the powers (powers/effects are being worked on now).

You can guarantee that there'll be plenty of eye-fodder coming soon this year as the new particle engine evolves and is tested.

Enjoy the site.

Nice looking site :)

Plasma Wall seems to have part of another description attached. Also, the descriptions seem to stretch the page (in Mozilla) beyond the intended width. For the Lycan Battle Mech, the description spells it "Lycon". On the Laser Infantry image, the description says "... 47th Laser Infantry core trust..." Should "core" actually be "corps"?

Hey, you asked for us to point out any problems! ;-)

Oh, and by the way... looking VERY forward to this game!

Melv - The site is awesome - the background on the team, introduction and gameplay is precisely the kind of content we've started talking about over on the Marketing and PR thread Game Marketing Cornerstones: The Game Website. I love the news feeds!

One thing about a site of this quality - its indicates your ready to "come out" making an official announcement about the game (with a press release) and line up some interviews. Its always good to work the bugs out get some members signed up and have a couple NEW screens you get to press first (before they go on the site) - even a couple you offer as exclusives. Time to make your list of all the key strategy websites and ones that you want to make 'insiders' to your game community. E-mail me and we can put a plan together.

@Brett: I'll get onto those things straight away; thanks. :)

@Jay: I do need to chat to you about Strategem and I'll be sure to get in touch over the next few days. :)

I may be going against the grain but I think the website is ugly; visually it's quite amateurish.

Sorry Melv. :(

Mike,

Not a problem, all criticism is helpful. :)

Quite frankly, we avoided doing the web-site for a long time because we're not web-gurus, we're indie game developers and didn't want to do what a lot of people do which is create a fantastic site and then spend a year trying to create content. We'll probably do it the other way around. :)

All we really wanted was something that was simple, easy to administrate and fairly cheap to run and I think we got that. As long as the content is informative about Strategem and we can keep it updated easily then we're all smiles over here. :)
