Plan for Tim Gift

We've been working "off and on" on the demo for quite a while now and I'm happy to say it's finally ready to be released. We'll do some testing this weekend, and if nothing major shows up we'll release it to the public first thing next week. The demo will continue to be a work a "work in progress", but we feel it's a good start :) If anybody in the Torque community would like to help us test it, it can be downloaded here. If you find any bugs, please post them in the torque demo section of the project manager.

The demo is also checked into the "New_Demo_Branch" in CVS, but the installer version is what needs to be tested. The branch also includes a new set of build scripts located in torque/install_build for those of you that want to look at how we put release builds together (don't forget the cvs "create missing dir." update option).

Once the demo is released we'll merge the demo branch into the HEAD, and put a concerted effort into reaching our Torque 1.2 milestone. Our near term roadmap is as follows:
  • Release the demo!
  • Merge the demo branch into HEAD
  • Merge in outstanding patches
  • Filter through project manager bug reports
  • Release 1.2!

There's some clipping issues with the crossbow in the realm wars section of the demo. The mouse sensitivity is WAY high (or, it is on my machine). Otherwise.... it ROCKS! :-)

I'm glad to see y'all have got a nice demo out there... A couple of things I thought were absent though:

Showing off the physics engine. With games like GTA being so popular I would market torque as a physics engine and show off what you can do with that.

The availability of 3rd party content. (bravetree, etc)

A better vehicle demo...

Does anyone know where Tim's tutorial on exporting from 3DS MAX can be downloaded? I've never yet found it; his original link is dead. Any pointers to this, or to some other useful tute that would get me started exporting from MAX, would be great.
