Lost the Day Job

Havent had an update in a while, but today I guess I have to. Lost the day job today. The corp is closing this office, in Dallas. So for the forseeable future, my time will be occupied with finding gainful employment.
As inconvinient and emotional as this is, I see it as an opportunity. I've really hated this job. I have an education in programming, I'm highly interested in game design & programming. The job was general tech support. It was 'what I could get' at the time. I see this as an opportunity to further my career goals.
So, ah. Anyone know of an opportunity for a junior programmer in Dallas Texas ? ;)
Frankly, I'm really hoping to find one of those jobs that is +50% travel. I have nothing tying me down, and I would be fun to stretch a bit.
I'm also interested in any Torque opportunities I can get. I need experince I can point at. Saying you can do something is nowhere near as cool as having something completed, that you can point to and say: "I have done this."
So wish me luck, and I'm now offically shopping for finishable projects here at GG.

Check in with some of the consulting firms in your area. While gainful permanent employment in the tech sector is hard to find now, consultants are in high demand. The downside? Contracts that are fun or challenging are few and far between.

I'm *happy* to hear that you lost your job. Once fear starts making your decisions for you, you'll never get anywhere. Having said that, you'd better work hard to find another since the economy isn't so hot right now.
If anyone's looking to hire a programmer, I vouch for Scott. Hire him, he'll learn whatever technology you need quickly enough.
