Plan for Mike Stoddart

It's been a while since my last plan. Not much has happened since then. Things have been fairly quiet for me. We had a great Christmas and New Year, and were sorely disappointed when it ended and we had to come home. Ah well, such is life.
I decided to go back to basics. I thought I would take some ideas I had and try to create a simple C++ OpenGL/SDL based game engine of my own. I've wanted to write my own games for some time now, and thanks to Torque it's easier than ever. However, I've also been interested in trying to work out how a game engine hangs together.
I took a 10 week Java/OO introductory course last year and I wanted to try to use my new-found knowledge into the engine. As with many projects I do that start off small, things eventually get out of hand as I prototype many ideas and concepts. However, it's fun and it's going well and if nothing else, it's very interesting.
I'm hoping to assist Joshua Ritter with the ActionRPG (www.actionrpg.com) project sometime soon. It sounds like he's snowed under with working on it, but hopefully one day I'll be able to use the code to complete my Torque game, Combat Section, but on a grander scale. So fingers crossed, and we'll see what the future brings!
I'm going to start looking around for someone to create some models for Combat Section, regardless of whether I use the ActionRPG code for a while or not. I WILL finish Combat Section one day; oh yes, it will be done! So if you have 3D modelling experience, and want to work on a WW2 based game, then send me an email. Note that you MUST have modelling experience and be willing to learn how to model successfuly for Torque without my assistance.
Cheers folks!
