Plan for Joel Baxter

The Daily for Nov 20 2002:
TGE bug report 79 continues to amaze and confuse.
Did some more investigation of other bug reports. Speaking of which, and following up on my question from a couple of updates ago, I've started a thread about the Project Manager in the bugs forum; chime in if you have thoughts.
Started chainsawing player.cc to pieces, as planned. Feels good to get started, although of course the worst is ahead. :-)
BTW some recent episodes of codeslinging have reminded me yet again how useful WndTabs and Workspace Whiz are for VC++. WndTabs, especially, is functionality that I am surprised was not included in VC++ itself.
Got back into the swing of providing regular Grav and tools builds for my group, as well as running a latest-build Grav server. Need to automate this. By some cosmic convergence I see that Realm Wars is running into the same issue right about now... I cast an eye at that discussion to see if I could hijack some ideas, but I imagine I'll end up just hacking something together specifically for our needs. My (somewhat limited) experiences in industry and academia indicate that this is a wheel that gets regularly reinvented, so why break with tradition? :-)
I'll do at least a cursory search for existing solutions though. I've downloaded mozilla's tinderbox source for a later look-see, although it may be overkill. It'll probably also be challenging to set up good automated tests for an interactive game, beyond the basic smoketests.
---
Today's accompaniment for keyclicks:
"Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?"
"Vocal Nation", Vocal Nation
"So Excited", Straight Company
"Live in Stockholm", The Real Group
"Soundtrack to Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan", James Horner
"Shostakovich: Symphony No. 5", Leonard Bernstein & N.Y. Philharmonic
"Holst: The Planets", Charles Dutoit & Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal
"Hand on the Torch", Us3
