Airfare: $250
Accommodations: $100
Cost of Admission: $150
IndieGamesCon 2002: Completely Overwhelming!
Seriously, this past weekend resulted in a story I will be telling my friends, my family, and complete strangers for years to come. It was simply amazing to meet such down-to-earth people that all shared a common passion. The IGC was SOOO different than GDC I mean by the end of the weekend I recognized everyone (albeit forgetting some names). The sessions were awesome, the indie games being shown off were very inspiring, and the food/beer well I've personally never seen better at a conference.
Some of the great games we saw in the ShowOFF center included ThinkTanks (BraveTree Productions), Marble Blast (GG/Monster Studios), Chain Reaction (Monster Studios), Robot Battle (Lunkwill Labs), Paintball Net (Samu Games), Trajectory Zone (Midnight Ryder Technologies), Metal Drift (some ex-Dynamix folks), Trash (Inhuman Games), and Trakers: Bid For Glory (Liquid Creations). It was inspiring to see so many different games by indies that were so fun and creative what a blast!
We also gave a presentation on Remote Team Management which was scribed and reviewed by Dan MacDonald of Rainfall Studios. You can also check out our slide presentation in either HTML or Open Office format.
Putting a face to the name for many in the GG community was a priceless experience for me, so I took some pictures and threw some captions on them attempting to identify folks that showed up clearly in the shot. Enjoy!
Finally, a special "thanks!" is in order to the GarageGames and MaxGaming staff that really kicked butt and made the conference a success. In particular, I think Jay Moore was the heart and soul of the conference and his energy alone was enough to keep us all going. Nice work guys and I'm looking forward to next year!

For the curious, Melv May is sitting beside me, on my left, in the "LAN Party Prelude" pic. Harold "Labrat" Brown (?) is sitting on my right.
Great pics, Justin. Thanks for posting them!

It was really great meeting all the people I did at the IGC. It was also really cool how well those of us from 21-6 were received - we really appreciate it. Justin already mentioned a lot of the groups/people we spoke to and drank beer with this last weekend, but I'd like to give a shout out to a few particular people (if you're not listed - it's cuz I suck):
Adrian and Ed from MaxGaming
Clark, Mike, and Joe from Bravetree
Brad of Robot Battle fame
David Michael of Samu Games
Mark, Jay, and Jeff from GG (Tim and Rick were too quiet - heh)
Brian Hahn from Monster Studios
James Hills from CyPR Media
John Quigley of the Torque Linux Quigley's ;)
IGC was a blast from start to finish.
