Plan for Tim Newell

I have finally finished the game me and my two artists have been working on. In case you didn't know I was working on a 2d rpg for the Zaurus PDA. My game is now available for purchase on Handango.com.
I'm really unsure of what is nexted for me. Ive been reading up on what it would take to add per pixel lighting/bumpmapping ande Volumetric Shadows to torque. The biggest problem is it takes 6 passes on a Geforce 1,2, 4MX. Only 3 on a Geforce 3, 4TI. I may look into adding this next. My other possible alternatives are to work on another Zaurus Game. Im gonna do some research and see what I think is the best course of action at this point.
That's about all I have to say in this .plan so until next time! Same Bat Station! Same Bat Channel!

Tim I know that I have told you this before on the IRC server but I thought that I would mention again "Congradulations!"

Mike:
It has a few pains with the limited resources but its much easier than trying to create a PC game. Being limited does help though as it makes your design doc come together easier and it really helps in the fact that all of your target audience's machines are the same hardware/OS, so you can hunt bugs much easier.

And as John and Melv already mentioned, getting it done and out the door is something in itself.
Again, bravo !!! :)
Now, if next you tackle the eye candy additions to Torque with the same kind of speedy development, I have a feeling you might become quite a popular guy around these parts...
Dunno about your situation, but what about setting up a page for those add-ons with a Paypal Donate Money button, so all interested parties (ie TGE dev teams) can help you focus by providing you with some monies ???
Btw, the same goes for Melv, or any other major contributor...
'Nuff said,
Have a good one,
Nicolas

6 passes on the GF4MX???? OUCH!
3 passes on the Ti is more acceptable...but I want it all in one pass...ALL in one pass...
Should I say it again?
ALL IN ONE PASS!!!
heh
Then again, the 4MX is more like a GeForce 2.5, performance and feature wise. I own one of the 4MX cards, and while I don't plan on swapping it out for the Ti model any time soon, I *will* pull it and install it into my secondary system once the NV30's get into the local EB (incedentally, there is a coding contest on right now at www.cgshaders.org - one of the prizes is an NV30).
How many passes on a Quadro4? I realize few gamers (ok...very few) would have a Quadro4 installed, but it would be interesting - since it is a Workstation-class part.

We use lots of them at work, XGL750/XGL900.
On paper they look better but give me my LeadTek ti4600 or ATI9700 Pro anyday.

Quadro4 are just about the same as geForce4 in the terms you are discussing except they have other stuff like quad-buffered stereo support. We use lots of them at work, XGL750/XGL900.

Hey, Tim - is the current email addy listed in your profile correct? I was tryin' to get ahold of you about a potential project for ya ;-)
Torque Owner Mike Nelson
I've been keeping an ear open about this project of yours since I first heard about it in Aug. Was it only last month? Crazy. Looks like you made the deadline then. Great job.
How was it working on a PDA platform?
If only I had a Zaurus so I could check it out.
