I did a little research and it appears that the 7th texture is used for reflections. I'll update the tutorial with the necessary information. ...Thanks for testing it out.

Bryce is a very powerful, feature rich, 3d environmental/scene generator. One of it's best qualities, it's super easy to use.Check it out here. Bryce is owned by Corel.

Has anyone tried higher res skys?

Yes. Higher resolution skies work, but they must be to the power of two (256x256, 512x512, 1024x1024, etc.). I don't know how high Torque will go, but the higher the resolution, the higher the overhead. Remember that. By the way, great tutorial, thanks a million! :D
