Plan for Mike Stoddart

Another week, another bug. Just kidding. I grabbed a new CVS HEAD copy of the source, and added the code to implement sprinting from the resources. It worked beautifully once I tweaked the values in player.cs a bit. Oh and I modified it to use the left shift key instead of the 'q' key. I reduced the drain speed when sprinting, and increased the sprint multiplier to be twice the walking speed. Great resource - thanks!

This week's major task is to try and implement this feature into my development build, which is from an earlier HEAD copy.

This week's minor tasks include good old bug fixing, especially the one where the text is displayed in the Player List Gui in cyan, instead of green. I'm really racking my brains on this one!

I received an application for a position I advertised on War In Europe, but I haven't heard back from the guy after I mailed him to request some of his work. I may have to follow up on this one. 3D modellers are a rare commodity these days, as they probably apply to larger, more visible projects.

I still need to tidy up some game logic code, especially related to the PlayerListGui. It's a bit messy as it's passing data around that isn't needed.

So that's my week planned!

I find that programmers who are willing to join a project are 10 times as rare as 3D modelers. For the longest time I've had 2 solid, amazingly skilled and dedicated modelers (I couldn't ask for better) but could not find any programmers.

Really? Well that just flies against everything I thought! Anybody else agree?

I think it depends on the person. Computer "geek" - more programmer friends.
"Artistic" type - more artist type friends. That's what I've seen anyway:)
I guess I'm more the "geek" type but have some more "artistic" friends too.
