Plan for Daniel Neilsen

This last week has been very interesting in terms of development of both my C++ abilties and my the Chaos Hunters project.

I spent a lot of time this week going through the collision code, in respect to vehicles and projectiles and fixing the collision crashes in Chaos Hunters.

This certainly has improved my C++ abilities a lot and I believe I can quite confidently move about in the engine now (YAY! lol)

The ogg vorbis support was also added into Chaos Hunters and it has made a basic game have a small touch of the final polish. Our audio guys (DNA Multimedia Audio) finished up the 8 original tracks that are to be included in the game, and all the sounds, and it is now starting to sound amazing.

On a side note... In the past the first thing I always did when I got a new game was to shot the music off. I never realised, until adding our own music into the game, just how much it adds to the overall feel of a game. I think I will be leaving the music on from now on :)

I have spent a fair amount of time in the engine searching for why dts explosions do not work currently and found that the explosionAnimation property is being lost for some reason. Hopefully I can find out why and get the flash looking dts explosions into our game in the near future.

Thats about it for me this week.

Oh yeah, I had a thought for a new game. If anyone wants to use it feel free.

Why not have a turn based strategy game that is massively multiplayer?? Each player is able to take a "turn" every hour. so yeah...you gotta sleep sometime. LOL!
(There is web based text games like this I believe but I dont think it has been done in a real game engine)

I think it would be differnet anyways :)

Actually, there is a turn based mmo already. I forget the name, but the guy next to me at work was playing it. He said it was a turn every 12 hours.

I think it was WWII based.

I love how I can pull just enough information out to warrant my posting, but never enough to actually provide any use.

Yeah there are quite a few text based ones, I'd still like to see a mmrts done right, unlike coughmankindcough

Daniel

Have any fixes for the "stuck" issue while in a flying craft? It seems any vehicle can get stuck to any object/terrain in certain situations and I haven't taken the time to discover the fix. Maybe you have? Any posts of the problem might help also.

Thanks
