Dynasoul[02]: Conceptual Art

Hello, we are a team of lovers on a journey to create our first hentai game. My girlfriend has been drawing all her life and I've been wasting away at a computer for most of mine. Together we make up Dynasoul.

In our last post we talked a bit about how we went about creating our logo. In this post we will talk about concept art, and it's importance in fleshing out an idea in a clear and unified manner. A lot of artists develop a general style in their head and then immediately begin producing a final piece or project. This can be quite a fun and rewarding way of drawing when you're just trying to express an idea in it's most unfiltered state. However when it comes to something as expansive as a video game, no matter how simple the game, there is a need for cohesiveness in design.

Concept art is a very important part of creating a game, movie, comic, building, or any other art related endeavor. You can buy entire books on JUST concept art. You can never have too much concept art, so make sure to compile every piece of art you create, even if you don't like it when you first drew it. There is a high probability you will find something you like from it in time, and there is bound to be someone who appreciates the rejected versions. Plus it helps to have something to juxtapose against the final design. And if you want, you can create a book of all your sketches and rejected designs, your fans will love it! :3

The following is a small sample of some of the artwork we produced for Nocturne Rain.

I went through many iterations just to get this adorable fox character!

The first stylistic approach to all of the characters began with Tanya, so she deserves some credit.

The inspiration for all these scenes sprouted from the many visits to tropical places in the past. We both have vivid memories of fun-in-the-sun, surfing. So combining different structural ideas came naturally. This will also give Nocturne Rain a very romantic and fun atmosphere. All artwork shown was created on Krita and Blender.

Thanks for the comments guys! We're both happy to hear you're liking the art style! We are still changing the way certain things look and are currently experimenting with how to allow our style to show through in the engine.
