Intro/Promo for the Rocks, Trees and Ambient Pack kit Volume 1:




Welcome back to my 2nd major blog in this EA pack series. If you have not already read my first blog launch about this pack, you should do that before reading this. The Rocks, Trees and Ambient pack is under EA (Early Adopter) release, meaning, it is not a done or finished product right now. On June 2md, 2014 the pack will go up in price. On June 6, 2014 this pack will go out to the public for $29.99 a copy and include the following:

* 10 rocks planned for the pack
* 6 Unique Rock Textures (1024x1024)
* 10 format model types PER rock plus the DAE
* 10 Ambient Wind sounds
* 10 Trees (mainly desert type trees with OBJ and DAE formats)

Features could change as time goes on, but this is the layout so far I am shooting for. The pack, as of this writing, is about 60% done. I have the following left to finish on the pack:

* 9 packs of 10 file types for the rocks
* 5 more rocks to complete
* 10 trees to go as of right now (have one done in beta stages as seen on the photos)
* 10 rocks with the new 6 textures already on them

And if you order early, you get the following:

About the tree models in this pack:

Ok, I said this time I would talk more about the trees in the pack. What do you need to know about them? Basically, they are made in 3D Max 2013, you will get the tree model and texture in DDS, PNG and JPG formats and the model comes in OBJ/DAE only. There will be 10 trees in all. I am also including 10 rock formations you can piece together to help you build up your level as shown in the last blog. I will be posting new images on these
and the new rocks in the next video. I wanted to get the youtube promo out to you guys to check out...

About the Rocks in the pack:

The first 5 rocks are already done, the new rocks will be NEW shapes, with new textures placed on them. So you will get 10 rocks, each with a new texture put on them and exported out to use in the Torque Engine and exported to OBJ, 3DS, DWG, DXF, FBX, MAX 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010 (10 formats) PLUS DAE as well. The new 5 pack of rocks and the 5 new textures are shown below. You will also receive these textures in a folder alone so you can add them to your project if you need to other then just for rock textures.

Here are some updated screen shots of the new rock textures I am releasing with the pack. There are 6 and all are in 1024 x 1024 format. The last two that are not shown are the ground textures that I will post next blog. Hey I have to some something to keep you coming back to read these blogs, right? :-)

The future of this pack:

I see a lot of potential of this pack becoming more. I'm already in the planning of a Rocks, Trees and Ambient Kit volume 2 since the need for good content for games is becoming so much more important now then ever before. What will the next pack feature? Too early to say right now but I'm going to go out on a limb and say I can see more rock types, more tree types, grasses, weeds and new ambient sounds. Maybe even a cool structure of some kind to add to a desert place like shown in the launch video... who knows.

Will the next kit be EA too?

Yeah, it will. I am planning to begin work on the 2nd kit directly after this EA release moves to a released product. Like I said above, I see this pack moving into a series of great content using just the base we have here to grow from. I also see the next kit moving into a new direction of useful textures, trees, sound, rock formations and other added models to the pack. I'm going to try to keep the price low, just $29.99 for the next EA price on the volume 2 kit to begin with, but the content will be even greater then this pack. I'll post a plan as to where I'm going with this kit in the coming blogs so please stay tuned!

The asking price of $19.99 will remain through to June 2, 2014 when the price will go to $29.99 a copy for the pack and will be released the following Friday, June 6th. All buyers will get early access to the beta trees, sounds and models as I build the pack. Also, EA buyers who order early also get 2 extra rock textures free ($20 value alone and brings the texture total to 8 = 6 for the rocks plus the two extra for ordering early) but buyers after June 2, 2014 will not receive this special extra texture pack.
