Forester Pro is a 3D tree, shrub and grass model creator for Torque3D which produces models that import seamlessly into the world editor complete with LODs and collision meshes. Forester Pro generates randomized models from templates, and allows you to create your own custom templates to make new tree types. Template packs, featuring over 60 types of tree, shrub, fern and grass are also available.

We've just released version 1.20 which features improvements to export functions for Blender, Max and Torque3D. In the new release:

(1) Bug fix for issues for grassmode being set on load of some non-grassmode models.
(2) New export functions to address export issues for Blender 2.66-2.67 and 3DMax (Blender changed it's Collada importer).
(3) Leaf size improved on export. Exported models should now be exactly the same as those in Forester.
(4) A double-sided option has been added into Torque3D export to allow double-sided grass models to be created. This minimizes over-emphasis of back faces using the double-sided option in the T3D world editor.

If you've already installed Forester Pro you can get an updater here:

You can also download a free version of Forester from our website featuring 7 free tree types.

Export to blender does not make much sense at the moment, since the wind animation/vertex paint gets erased when importing collada into blender, so wind animation is gone and repainting by hand is frustrating, especially if you have no idea how it was before.
Are there any ways to get the vertex paint imported? Maybe this is a blender problem.

Blender's collada importer hates vertex colours, it crashes Blender.

We provide an export to Blender/3DMax etc for other applications outside of the main engines we support such as mods for Skyrim.

So is there any way to get a forester model get imported to blender with vertex paint? Repainting all models properly in the same way is an insane amount of work, especially if you cannot see how it was before.

The vertex paint for wind animation is still a missing link in the workflow.

Blender won't import vertex colors. There is nothing we can do about this until Blender updates its importer to include vertex colors.

However, Forester Pro does include vertex colors with models exported for Torque3D and for UDK.
