One install package to go till launch! Having been through hades to get here, I can now say we are one install package away from putting DNT up for sale on our website at Winterleaf. Once HNGamers finishes up the install packaged for us, we will be officially selling the product.

Ok, so here is the scoop, please read carefully, because this can get confusing.

DNT is a programming framework Winterleaf Entertainment L.L.C. designed in CSharp and C++ to provide a collection of methods for allocating unmanaged memory, copying unmanaged memory blocks, and converting managed to unmanaged types, as well as other miscellaneous methods calls between T3D and CSharp.

DNTC (Dot Net Torque Customizer) is an application which scans your entire C++ looking for:

  1. ConsoleFunctions
  2. ConsoleMethod
  3. DefineConsoleMethod
  4. DefineConsoleFunction
  5. DefineEngineFunction
  6. DefineEngineMethod

When it finds one of the above definitions, it parses the information about it and generates a C++ Extern and a CSharp stub so the method can be called from a Dot.Net compatible language.

The source code generated by DNTC can be distributed publicly provided that the distributor provides the generated source code free of charge.

The source code (DNT) can be distributed publicly provided that the distributor provides the source code (DNT) free of charge.

The DNTC (DotNetTorque Customizer) cannot be distributed in any way shape or form.

We will be selling our product soon for 99 dollars in our storefront.

So, if you know Sean over at HNGamers and you want to get your hands on a copy of DNT, shoot him an email and give him some motivation to finish the installer! (chuckle)

Vince

Thanks for the url clarification,

Glad this product is finally out. cant wait to test it out.

So I assume, GG did not come to an understanding to the commission to host the product in their store. probably were asking high commission rate?.

anyways, in a way am glad this product is going to be sold directly from the original developer site, since the commission cost wont have to be passed to the end user, that way the product will remain affordable.

hopefully GG will come up with a good decent rate for developers to add their products to the store, since I too plan to add my own products, that way GG will remain alive, after all this was one of the main reason for them to go open source to gain commissions from the storefront.

but they will have to be reasonable so everyone will make a buck or two.

@Pilotcap232 to be fair GG is using the standard which is the same at the Unity asset store and several other third party vendors. Which is 30% to GG.
Still, the standard seems a bit high tbh :)

yup, 30% quite high imo, i know is the standard, but 30 cents on the dollar for posting the assets on the store feels quite high.

but anyways, that is how the online bizz works,

hell, and i thought ebay was high, last time i used to sell stuff with them was paying whole lot less than 10% final product sale, and seemed a lot to me.

unity does that too, that is why i havent posted anything on their store, it just does not seems or feels fair imo, but it is just my opinion.
and at least you can post or sell you assetes in their forums, so that works too.

I just hope and wish GG also makes some money too, and hoping they will make it more accessible for devs to post their assets in their store.

The debate on %'s has and will rage on for a long time I think, the only reason I never put my game assets on GG's site is I live in the UK and working out the tax etc. makes it too complex for me plus I would probably end up with nothing after all the deductions.

oops sorry Vince this is starting to look like a thread hijacking..

I do look forwards to DNT plus you do have some interesting other products on the way :-D

actually this has nothing to do with pricing. it has to do with us wanting to get it out to everyone. We also felt with all the different builds of T3D going on atm, making www.winterleafentertainment.com a central point for our own products wasn't such a bad idea.
