Plan for Tane Piper

Since I had some free time on my hands, I decided to go back to the design document for my game I am developing with the Torque Engine called Barbaric Arena.

I had so many ideas that I have decided to make 3 games. They are all set in the same universe, with the same background story and can pretty much be powered by the same engine - it is only the art that would need a total change.

The first of the games is set in the original Barbaric Arena universe, and sets up the whole background universe. It is a pure fantasy world that will be familar to many fans of the fantasy genre. The second game cuts to 3000 years in the future, where the world has developed to a modern-day Earth like world, only a bit more advanced. Technology has replaced magic, and evil has been allowed to grow. The final game is set 6000 years after the first game in a post-apocolyptic world where Necromancers and dark magicians rule the world and the use of technology has been forgotten. It is similar to the first game in some respects, but completes the story. If anyone has read stories in the Cthulhu mythos, this would be close to the world of "Zothique". Of course I don't want to go too much into the story here.

I also decided to focus more on the fight mechanics too. I have been playing various 2D and 3D fighting games and seeing what ideas they have. I think I've come up with a pretty good fight system that will allow for a game that is both challanging and fun.

I'm still looking for people to join the team, helping to set up the framework engine for all 3 games, plus work on art for the first game. So be pro-active, and get in contact with me. I'm actually looking into getting some funding for the game, so hopefully this could mean payment, but in the meantime there is unfortunatly no money.

I can be contacted on tanepiper@hotmail.com, or via ICQ: 25958771.

Hi Tane,

How come the free time? I've seen some screenshots of Lost Legion in a few magazines in the UK - have you found a publisher yet?

Yea, things are going well with Lost Legion, but this is a game I've been thinking about for a while. I really want to get it done :)
